allegedly published on AS newspaper
in english online the only readable report I found it's on... armenian news!

http://news.am/eng/news/85842.html

Real Madrid football club spent €1,098 million for 61 football players in last ten years.
The second place occupies Barcelona, with €757.3 million for 59 football players.
The best triple closes Atletico of Madrid, with € 423.5 million for 109 football players
FC Valencia (€379.9 million for 75 players) and Vila Real (€227.2 million for 73 players) close the best five, AS.com counted.

it took me "some" effort but finally found the original on www.as.com
http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/atletico-ficho-108-jugadores-2000/20111214dasdaiftb_32/Tes
(it was actually focused on Atlético Madrid)

The Offisde reported this summer a more detailed article by Marca, for Real Madrid only
http://www.theoffside.com/leagues/spain-la-liga/how-real-madrid-spent-a-billion-euros-on-transfer-fees.html
and luckily quotes the url
http://www.marca.com/2010/08/09/futbol/equipos/real_madrid/1281330797.html

although that's not updated with the current season data, it's as well interesting
(of course you're all fluently fluent in spanish
we could ask CheCa for a summary translation...)

furtherly investigating, I found these surveys too

europe football clubs wages bills (rather than transfers)

1bn of money just to buy the right to give a (fat) contract to an individual... a bit silly, really...

Interesting how relatively competitive the Premier League is. Strength in depth.
