http://www.suntimes.com/news/marin/6521130-417/voldemort-murdoch-was-here.html

"It was in 1984 that Murdoch bought the Chicago Sun-Times. Star columnist Mike Royko promptly quit, uttering a still-memorable condemnation as he left the newsroom.

“No self-respecting fish would want to be wrapped in a Murdoch paper,” Royko declared. "

Oerdin

be interesting to see how Fox News portray this as Obama's fault.

Well, they didn't blame Obama but they did have an interesting spin (there is a video of this on MSNBC right now if you look under the Maddow Show). They casually mentioned that some foreign affiliate of the parent company is in "a hacking scandal" then they claim that's nothing unusual though because there have been lots of recent "hacking scandals and even CITIbank and the US government has gotten hacked recently!"

This, of course, ignores that CITIbank and various government departments were the victims of hacking while Murdoch's businesses were the ones out doing the hacking! Oh, Fox Noise, how "fair & balanced" you are.

Funko

So the Conservatives have forced the Met Police Commissioner to resign, for employing an ex News International employee who's been arrested as a media advisor.

ie. Exactly what Cameron did with Coulson.

I rather expect the whole thing to come to nothing. Corruption is normal and some criminal behaviour well-accepted as long as you own enough politicians. Always remember the golden rule.

Funko
19-07-2011, 08:14:00
Yeah but the politicians are sensing this is an election losing issue, and the police are desperate to clean house and attempt to show they aren't corrupt.

And virtually all the politicians, even a lot of the Tory ones, really hate the way Murdoch has had a stranglehold on British politics.

The story gets crazier:

Murdoch was so arrogant it defies reason. This illegal hacking activity has been going on for almost a decade and News Corp has paid $680 million in legal settlements over the last decade to keep this hacking activity out of courts. It is completely unreasonable for the CEO to claim that he had no idea that New Corp had continually spent hundreds of millions of dollars to hide this activity. Of course he knew what that half billion dollars plus was going too because he personally had to approve every single one of those settlements yet he lies and wants us to believe he just had no idea where all that hush money was going. That just doesn't pass the smell test.

Actually, it was more about how what everyone thought was a trophy wife turned out to be a ninja. You have to seriously respect a woman who will bodily sail clean over other people just to punch her elderly husband's assailant in the face.
