IIRC, in case of a draw (after the 1st leg 0-0), the away goals rule does NOT apply anymore (since 2001?), but the tie will be decided on penalties instead
(see last season Leicester v Cardiff seimfinal)

the winner will face Swansea in the Chammpionship playoff final, single match at Wembley in 2 weeks time

Yeah, no away goals.

Only our brave boys stand between the Premiership and a bunch of barbaric sheep shaggers. :(

I went to the first leg. On e-mail before the game with the guys I was going with I jokingly sent "ENGERLAND ENGERLAND ENGERLAND"

One guy (Wilby) replied that he found that so funny he spat cake over his monitor. I though... er... ok, not really funny but nevermind.

So later at the game the Reading fans started singing "ENGERLAND ENGERLAND ENGERLAND"

And Wilby had this odd confused look on his face. He said something like "how did you know?!"

So we had to explain that the game was England against Wales. *facepalm*

I'm still not sure why it was spit cake on the monitor funny, especially if he didn't understand the reference.

WAS WAS

great match, I managed to watch it

honestly, the ref has NOT been kind to Cardiff
but did anyone tell Cardiff strikers that they were supposed to *avoid* the opponents goalie, whan they shot at goal?

Great ref, one of the best in the world.

Was really good that he was not overly generous to the home team in a whole run of incidents...

but did anyone tell Cardiff strikers that they were supposed to *avoid* the opponents goalie, whan they shot at goal?

I know. Federici wouldn't normally get as many catches that easy in the goalie warm up before the game.

How much?

we have 39k tickets

5k are 36, which is reasonable

Then you get

10k at 52
12k at 64
10K at 76

then some corporate ones that are even more. All those are half price to concessions, kids and OAPs etc.

Greg W

That's the sort of prices we'd only pay to see a big international match.

I guess a 300m over budget Wembley doesn't pay for itself.

Greg W

Maybe if it pimped itself better?

What an oddly prophetic thread title, seeing as it's Swansea in the final! Did you pay off the ref, or something...? :hmm:

Well, serves Cardiff right for not getting the automatic promotion spot - they've looked decidedly dodgy in the last few games, after looking on fire just into the run in...

I am pissed off though, because I forgot to place my customary opponents to win bet. I even checked the odds, but got distracted at work, so I ended up not winning approx 58 on the bet I'd planned!

Still, there are a couple of silver linings: 1) I don't have to buy a Cardiff City shirt; 2) I get to see West Ham play in Cardiff again...:bash:

No you idiot, he created the thread after Forest got knocked out so it was Reading, Swansea and Cardiff left in at that point.

And Reading down 2-0 to Swansea after 26 mins. This will take one hell of a comeback...

Was a great match, looked like two dodgy penalties from row 32 on upper tier, but apparently on tv they were cast iron, and lucky first one wasn't red card so fair enough.

I agree. I was a little bit closer, Row 14 of the same block in the upper tier. I did actually see you Mike walking back up the steps after half time but didn't shout as i was about 5 metres away and you probably wouldn't have realised who it was anyway, ha ha. 3-0 down at half time was a terrible score, and felt unfair as a couple of their goals were down to fortunate rebounds. Couldn't believe how close we were to equalising when that shot cannoned back off the post and then as soon as it was 4-2 we all knew it was over. To be fair i think we did well to get to the Play Off Final itself and Swansea are a better team. If Reading sell in the Summer Madjeski must let McDermott strengthen for another go though.

Walking back up just as Hunt scored! Have seen highlights now, both were clear penalties. Totally agree on next year.

Overwhelmed by the sheepshaggers in the end - pity it was the wrong sheepshaggers that got promoted...

True that, I really like Swansea and hope they do well next year!

The fans were probably nice to you because you'd just beaten Cardiff and also Reading lost to them. ;)
