View Full Version : It looks like Rare is going multiplatform

I was watching the Nintendo pre-E3 press conference live on gamespot. Someone asked on the status of Rare and Nintendo, they gave a bullshit answer.

Minutes later someone asked a direct, pointed question of if Rare is going multiplatform. If they weren't they'd obviously say no. What happened? Well, the Nintendo guy began saying something then Gamespot cut the feed. :clueless:

I guess the rumors were true about Rare's Xbox Development Kits.

Certainly looks like it, I think most people suspected it anyway.

Either that, or even they don’t know whether they can keep Rare or not. If they can, that is a massive boost. If not, well, they will probably get the better versions of the games, but it will still be a blow.

I don't think they'll be porting games.

What I think they'll do is making some exclusive games for a couple consoles.

Nintendo will still get their franchised character games, Xbox will probably get some new, original Rare franchises.

Perfect Dark was a franchised character game? Banjo Kazooie was a franchised character game?

I think Nintendo actually owns the rights to both Perfect Dark and Banjo Kazooie now, at least that's what I heard.

But I was referring mostly to Star Fox and the like.
