#1: the trailer.

Who needs it? I got the DVD including the movie, why should I watch the trailer? It's like showing an trailer in a theatre just before the movie. It's ... useless.

I agree - the more of these "DVD Features" I see on DVDs, the more I consider them to be a waste of time and just a cynical means of extracting more money from the consumer.

#2: the directors/cast commentaries.

Who want's to sit and watch 2 hours of a film, but instead of listening to the dialogue, listen to some boring bloke droning on about how he set up this shot, and what coloured pants he was wearing... For the first 5 mins you might be fooled in to thinking "ooh, this is quite interesting", but seriously, the whole film - especially if it's something as long as Gladiator or Lord of the Rings...

The audio commentary of "futurama" is quite funny, because they got 6 or 7 people of the staff and you get the impression they are (at least somewhat) drunk.

The audio commentary of French Connection is also quite good, tells you a lot of the real life story behind the movie.

Funky you should really listen to some of those commentarys. Especially after you've seen the movie a few times.

The commentary for Conan the Barbarian is brillant.

I've started listening to the commentaries on Gladiator, Terminator 2, Run Lola Run, Alien and East is East and it just bores me after 10 mins or so. However, what I did find interesting was on the discs where they have "deleted scenes with commentary" as usually the commentary actually tells you why the scenes were cut, or what was wrong with them etc. That was really interesting in say Gladiator.

Yeah, the commentary on the deleted Gladiator scenes is good.

Arnold is just brillant in the Conan commentary though. I swear to god either he was drunk or he had just gotten out of surgery.

He's austrian

Austrians are brillant? Does Roland know that?

Schwarzenegger had to leave Austria because he was brilliant (to austrian standards)

The only trailers of value are of re-releases of older films. Close Encounters of The Third Kinds' trailer is a good example of how dated some have got!

A pathetic dvd is one that classes a menu and trailer as 'special features'.

That's a very pathetic DVD.

That's a very sad and pathetic DVD.

I'm a bit disappointed with the extras on my Cowboy Bebop DVDs. The music videos are nice, but the interviews are too short, and I think on the last 2 discs they just ran out of ideas.

Ideally, there should have been longer interviews, making of shots, and some backstory information would be great, as I still haven't quite figured it out.
