Next week is a whole week of pharmaceutical fun and awesome barbecue.

...and by pharmaceutical fun I mean I'm taking training for work.

...and by training for work I mean I'm not taking drugs.

Manufacturing drugs with intent to distribute?

Long distance information, give me Memphis Tennessee
Help me find the party trying to get in touch with me
She could not leave her number, but I know who placed the call
'Cause my uncle took the message and he wrote it on the wall

I assume it's an MDA factory.

I have never been there, but my wife who has, sez it is a dump.
The BBQ, if you like the style, is OK though.

I heard there was catfish on the table and gospel in the air.

Two bad things right off the bat.

I like Carolina barbecue, but I'm willing to endure the Memphis version. Sacrifices must be made.

Kansas City BBQ is where it's at.

Rendevous Ribs (dry rub), good.
Nealy's (pulled pork barbecue, catered lunch), good.
Texas de Brasil (Brazilian barbecue, a little salty), good.
Blue Street Diner, (corn meal breaded catfish and apple dumpling w/ ice cream in a cast-iron skillet) good.
Dyers Burgers on Beale, OK burgers (great price), restaurant filthy.
Trolley/cablecar transportation, cool!
Walking up and down Beale street with beer in your hand, good. Beer for sale every 20-30 feet, good.
Blues music, good when you could find it. It was sometimes hard to find.
Gibson factory tour. Short, loud, nice, but wouldn't repeat it.
Graceland & Sun Studios, drove by. Would like to have seen the studio.
Danny Thomas/St. Jude Children's Hospital stuff, interesting.
Mud Island, relief miniature of the entire Mississippi River running the length of the island, neat, kills time, very hot.
Minor league Redbirds AAA baseball game, good, Redbirds choke.
Beale Street panhandlers, obnoxious, particularly the Lurker.
Running 4 miles along the Mississipi in hickory-smoke filled air in 90+ degree heat and high humidity, in direct sunlight on hot pavement, incredibly stupid.

Tableting class at UT Memphis, nice people, good course.

Wandering more than a block off of Beale or Main at night, not a good idea.

FedEx has a huge hub in Memphis and provides a lot of jobs. This week they announced they'd be laying off over 1000 employees in the near future. Presumably many of these will be in the Memphis hub, putting more strain on a city already struggling. Boarded up storefronts are the norm downtown.

Hotel next to a park with a big statue of Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederate States of America. Priceless.
