They probably should have beaten them, but the USA aren't shit and Football's a funny old game

13-06-2010, 10:02:09
at least it was a nice game to watch

Greg W
13-06-2010, 10:39:07
And the better team doesn't always win!

13-06-2010, 11:04:50
define better
I think We Dutchies agree and learned a few times.
but then again what's better

Greg W
13-06-2010, 11:17:11
Better: like butter, but with an "e"...

13-06-2010, 11:19:24
no good G

Alright then. In the way I meant it, pretty much any meaning of better can apply.

The more skillful side doesn't always win. The more passionate side doesn't always win. The more committed side doesn't always win. And sometimes, even the side that plays better on the day doesn't win.

Happy now? :p

13-06-2010, 13:28:27
Jesjes way way better

13-06-2010, 15:45:16
stupid mistake by goalkeeper
(btw we are going to get smashed, again)

very good football from the americans i think (relatively speaking).

on the bright side, al qaeeda had targeted that game for explosion and nothing happened :)

13-06-2010, 20:21:02

Nice game to watch? It was awful.

14-06-2010, 00:45:53
I thought England was dominant.

Greg W
14-06-2010, 02:45:58
They were. I think Drekkus is getting to the point where he over-exaggerates a bit in his old age.

The fact that they were dominant doesn't change the fact that is was a boring game to watch. Despite the dominance England could not create serious chances. At least the last 35 minutes I watched was just not good football. Not compared to what Germany showed yesterday anyway.

14-06-2010, 07:52:01
You won't find many arguments from fans in England on that point. Germany have put in the best performance so far. But OTOH they are the only big team to play a minnow so far (apologies Greg).

Greg W
14-06-2010, 08:01:18
No need to apologise. We played like minnows for a lot of the game. And frankly, Germany were boring for a lot of the 2nd half, they just seemed to think the game was over, so why bother any more?

I also don't think England were awful as such. Awful is watching a team that tries nothing creative. Greece ala Euro 2004 rings a bell. England tried, they just couldn't get that last 10% needed to make the difference. And the goal by Gerrard was quite good play (from what Drekkus said he didn't see that), pretty much the equal of anything Germany did.

I just think "awful" is exaggerating a bit...

14-06-2010, 08:04:48
let's wait for a couple of hours
The Dutch will play 3 brilliant games in the poule and would be knocked out in the second round.

everybody happy

14-06-2010, 08:05:25
Nice game to watch? It was awful.

edde gij poep in oew ogen gehad?

14-06-2010, 08:07:10
By their own standards England weren't awful at all. There's a reason Tim Howard was man of the match (and it isn't his comedy tourettes).

14-06-2010, 08:08:31
There was a great comedy HD slow mo of him shouting "FUUUUUUUUUUUCCKK!" hope that went around the world. I assume that's what his MotM was for?

14-06-2010, 08:15:25
You're probably right.

Greg W
14-06-2010, 08:17:43
He did yell at his defenders an awful lot in that match.

14-06-2010, 08:35:05
no need to yell with all those vuvuzela's
damn i hate that noise, a good thing there is belgium television

14-06-2010, 09:44:59
Vuvuzelas FTW.

14-06-2010, 10:40:57
Vu vu zelavec moi?

14-06-2010, 10:44:12
I don't speak Belgian.

Cheshire Cat
14-06-2010, 10:46:45
Exactly: that will allow you to turn the audio off, as you don't understand Belgian anyway

14-06-2010, 10:49:28
I can't normally hear the vuvuzelas over the mighty continuous roar of my farts.

Poor poor Tizzy :(

14-06-2010, 13:05:37
I bet she absolutely loves the World Cup.

14-06-2010, 14:51:31
She fled to Scotland for the weekend this weekend...

Greg W
14-06-2010, 15:35:55
Would Tizzy be watching if Scotland had made it, or is she just not a football fan at all? Or somewhere in between?

14-06-2010, 15:38:21
I started asking Funko this time last week if it was nearly over yet.
I like most sports, but not football.

Greg W
14-06-2010, 15:55:29
You must suffer every 4 years then...

18-06-2010, 21:09:43
Awful team, awful tournament, awful sport

I had to break the news to Ms MOBIUS yesterday that there's at least another two weeks to go...
