Last year Country Ranking (2009)
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2009.html

was used to determine the current season Access List (2010, or 2010/11)
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/access2010.html
that is, the grid used in 2009/10 domestic Leagues to determine Access to 2010/11 European Cups (now both called "Leagues": CL & EL)

2009/10 domestic leagues qualified these clubs to next season Cups

_____
in the meanwhile:

2009/10 CL & EL performances determined the current Country Ranking 2010
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2010.html
(yet to be finalised, pending May 22 Bayern v Inter CL final)

it will be used to determine next season Access List,
i.e the grid to be used in 2010/11 domestic Leagues for qualification to 2011/12 European cups
no changes are expected to the grid and the format, it will only have to be updated according to the new ranking

_____
next season performances:

2010/11 domestic Leagues will qualify clubs to Europe competitions according to the new AL built upon 2010 Country Ranking

2010/11 CL & EL performances will determine following year Country Ranking and Access List (from 2011/12 domestic to 2012/13 europe)
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2011.html

_____

the AL grid is mostly organised in 3-teams tiers, thus a cross-tier change in ranking is more relevant than an in-tier one

On the leftmost cols, the 2009 coeff and ranking, used for the current Access List
In the middle the crisp new 2010 ranking to be used in next season country leagues
for instance:
Netherlands was 8th, and Utrecht is their 4th club qualified to next season EL
This season they had poor CL/EL contribution from Breda, Heerenveen and AZ.
Portugal fared marginally better, but Romania did much worse.
Yet they both overtook Holland, because the dutch had to drop their excellent 04/05 coeff
Thus from 2010/11 Eredivisie they'll qualify only 3 teams to EL and not 4

Denmark got up 1 tier at the expenses of Scotland. Only one Glasgow team will qualify to CL next year.

Below rank #15 down to 47, very little changes. Teams number and CL access stay the same, only EL starting rounds vary.
Thus for instance Norway and Serbia leaving their tier spots to Israel and Cyprus will only force next year 3rd qualified EL team to start from Q1.

On the right I also report the provisional 2011 ranking.
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2011.html
This is obtained by dropping 05/06 coefficients. Of course that will just be the starting point onto which teams playing 2010/11 CL/EL will add, to finalise it in May 2011.

It's useful to show the tasks different countries will face next season in Europe.
For instance, (***) should even Inter help regain a 4th CL berth for next year Serie A (***they did), a huge 5 points hurdle (***4.789) will await italian teams in europe, to avoid losing it anyway for the follwing year
Or, Netherlands will benefit from the sheer Romanian drop, but will stay 10th as Turkey will have a smaller backstep.
They'll stil need to catch up 1.5 coeff pts on the Turks to regain the tier they just lost.
Scotland on their part will start again inside top 15 thanks to a bigger Swiss drop.
While Ukraine will start in 2nd tier but with the nariest .009 coeff margin to defend from Russian neighbors.

^ bump for CL final updates (***)

damn, 4 italian teams in CL in 2011/2012 too
:bash:
(provided the 4th one doesn't crash down from CL playoff to EL groups, as Sampdoria could as well do this August)
