last day it was the first day of the season with 12 hours of daylight.
I love that

so at the office we had a deal, when it's that magic day we will go out and drink beer till you drop.

so jesjes we went to the best terrace in town and drank loads and loads of beertjes.

I woke up just in front of my bed, with my clothes on.

that was one heck of a brilliant thought I had last night!!

1. I was allready out of bed when I woke up.
2. I was allready dressed.

I love the sun and beer o/c

It'll vary depending on your latitude anyway won't it? It would be different in Italy to the Netherlands.

Italy?

what has Italy to do with this?

anyway:
by definition
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equinox

The name "equinox" is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the equinox, the night and day are approximately equally long

but

An equinox happens each year at two specific moments in time (rather than two whole days)

thus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equinox#Length_of_equinoctial_day_and_night

From the Earth, the Sun appears as a disc rather than a single point of light, so when the centre of the Sun is below the horizon, its upper edge is visible. Furthermore, the atmosphere refracts light, so even when the upper limb of the Sun is below the horizon, its rays reach over the horizon to the ground.
[...]
These cumulative effects make the day about 14 minutes longer than the night at the Equator and longer still towards the Poles.
[...]
The date at which the time between sunset and sunrise crosses 12 hours , is known as the equilux. Because sunset and sunrise times vary with an observer's geographic location (longitude and latitude), the equilux likewise depends on location ...

The equinox, however, is a precise moment in time which is common to all observers on Earth

in summary:
due to practical details of reality, daylight is actually longer than night
a drunk mr_B taught me this, thanks to his drunkennness itself I'd add
he was right, the day with 12+h of daylight can indeed precede the equinox by one or more days

considering the sun as if a pinpoint tho, and no atmosphere, before the equinox days are all shorter than night, at any latitude
Latitude can enhance that difference, but not reverse it
i.e. on March Ides days in Scotland will be shorter than in Greece, but they'll both cross the equinox the same day, Latitude can't make northerners get there first

more chances to celebrate!
kudos to mr_B!!!
