Was it better than Red Baron 3D (WW1) or Aces over Europe (WW2)?

Wings was amazing not least because it had an incredible story.

Between missions you would get a little diary type thing where your alter ego recorded happenings in the squadron and camp. It was extremely well-written and educational as to the horrors of life in the services in WWI.

Oh wow. I do remember a couple of those kind of games from my early days buying White Dwarf before it became in-house only.

e.g. Blue Max (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/508)

I think there was a video side-scroller barnstorming game called Blue Max as well.

http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0000597

somewhat wrong, you bombed barns, and its not sidescrolling

guess that's called isometric view

and just to emphasize the :mr_b:, I most likely played that game on an Atari 400 in the late 70's.

Knights of the Sky by Microprose was the finest flight sim, and remains so, because flight sims are crap (apart from that). But Microsoft insist on releasing a new one every year. Are they fucking stupid, or do morons buy a new version of this kind of shit game every year?
