An unlucky number for some, but a week where anyone who gambled on their captain being a cheap player from a team who played twice in gameweek like Dempsey or S Hunt would have likely got more points than a big gun such as Fabregas, Gerrard or Rooney. That's unless you had Defoe but i see few did. 50pts if you had had him captain. Wow.
Attacking players are still the ones hauling in the points and picking defenders who keep clean sheets is getting trickier. The league's getting close towads the top with the top 4 starting to beakaway a bit leaving previous winners struggling in mid-table but with the busy Chirstmas and New Year period approaching things can always change and it'll be a case of if you snooze yer lose.

I picked my captain well this week, at least.

Dammit! I only remembered about 2 hours too late to change my team this week. :bash:

I brought Adebeyor in and made him captain especially for this week as i thought he had would score me some points at home to Hull. Wrong! I 've now transfered him straight out. I sometimes wish the Captain feature didn't exist at all.

ditto. Further salt in the wound was sacrificing Drogba to bring him in.

But... Man City aren't much better than Hull.

Fergie just hauled Vidic off on 59 minutes...

You would have taken 8 points before the game wouldn't you? Fabregas' injury could be a bit of a problem. He's definitely missing the Hull game where he could have got quite a few points. Last thing you need going into Christmas is injuries.

Funko

I am rocketing up the table. Er... sort of.

Greg W
18-12-2009, 10:10:30
Yeah, for me, losing Fabregas would cost me 0.5 mil to buy him back, so I guess I keep him in the team for a little while on the bench.

Walrus Feeder
21-12-2009, 22:51:45
Well, well, well. I hit top spot in the league for the first time and then go on to have my worst week of the season with 25pts, with no player getting higher than 5. Mind you i had a few injuries and most of my team were paying away from home (not in the Tiger Woods sense) so didn't expect a lot of points.

Just noticed I've been knocked out of the fantasy cup. I didn't even realise I was in it...

Walrus Feeder

Same here. My worst week coincided with Round 1 of the Cup. Oh well. I see people have started to transfer Drogba since the game away at Birminghams was supposed to be his last before going to Angola, but i've just heard on talksport he'll be available for the Fulham game. Not sure whether to keep him in for this as i already had a transfer strategy worked out for next 2 gameweeks!

I think that counts as a good week.

Going to have to think hard about Fabregas before tomorrow. Arsenal play twice this gameweek and he was a dead cert to be my captain, but he may not be playing at all...

Greg W
28-12-2009, 02:10:39
Yeah, not after he re-injured himself. :(

28-12-2009, 14:55:24
Took a gamble and transferred out Fabregas. Have 6 players in teams that play twice this week (3 Arsenal, 2 Stoke, 1 Bolton)

Walrus Feeder
30-12-2009, 00:53:45
15 pts for Stephen Hunt! ...but only if Giggs doesn't feature against Wigan and Fabregas doesn't play in either Arsenal game.

The Shaker
30-12-2009, 09:06:12
you can now guarantee fabregas will come on for the last 5 minutes of the second game :)

Giggs didn't play so that means Stephen Hunt will come into midfield for me so i'll get 15 pts, and if Fabregas isn't fit to play against Bolton then Ridgewell will replace him gaining me another 6. It fortunate to have good strength in depth isn't it??!!

hmm, this arctic weather's going to make an interesting impact on managing your team over the next few weeks. A few games being called off already, do you transfer players out from teams that aren't playing so you field a full 11, do you risk transferring a player in only to hear tommorrow the game's called off? Interesting.

Funko

Yeah. Loads of cancellations. It's totally random. I'm leaving well alone!

Almost think it wasn't worth getting rid of drogba, he'll be back before another game is played.

22-01-2010, 05:03:02
Dammit, Rooney needs to pick up another 6+ pts (x2 = 12+ as he's my captain) to make me glad I chose him instead of Fabregas as captain! And damn ManU picking Van de Sar when I just bought Kusczac into the side! :o

Funko
22-01-2010, 08:58:33
Huh? Rooney has 24 at the moment as a captain Fabregas has 48 as captain. He needs to score 12*2 to equal Fabregas.

Greg W

Greg got 142... geez.

Walrus Feeder
23-01-2010, 21:59:10
I'm chuffed with my 139 which takes me top of a tightly contested title challenge. 139's surely the highest i've ever got in one week, although there's obviously more fixtures than normal. 64pts as captain for Rooney alone though, wow.

Greg W
24-01-2010, 01:23:35
Shoot. I manage to get 142
...but everyone above me gets 130+! :bash:

Definitely the highest score I have ever achieved, that's for sure. Probably in all likelihood my highest for a single player with Rooney at 64! He did not disappoint indeed!

And poor Beta definitely suffered badly this week.

Funko
25-01-2010, 08:46:41
Fucking Rooney.

At least he's not playing this week.

Greg W
25-01-2010, 11:44:30
I noticed that! And I lose 0.5 mil if I sell him, so he's going on the bench for a week I think.

Beta1
25-01-2010, 18:13:19
Its a good job I've been doing fairly well consistently for the last month - otherwise I would have dropped out of sight. Still 4th by a safe margin to 7th in one week I think...

theres always one week I fuck up each season, usually its the christmas one but I think this is the one for this year...
