Yeah, how ironic that a land vehicle converted to run over water is on land.

Dyl Ulenspiegel

Accompanying article:

A Minnesota man has been sentenced for driving his La-Z-Boy chair on a public street while drunk. Sixty-two-year-old Dennis Anderson was nabbed by police who'd spotted the customized chair being driven on a public street. The vehicle itself is, surprisingly, mostly street legal with an eight horsepower lawnmower engine, headlights, rear view mirror and even a stereo and built-in cup holder. The contraption is steered with a dragster style steering wheel that protrudes from what appears to be a plywood seat. Police officers had two issues after stopping the chair. It didn't have a seatbelt and Anderson was driving with a blood alcohol content of point-two-nine, more than triple the legal limit in Minnesota. Anderson has entered a guilty plea for driving while intoxicated and was sentenced to 180 days in jail, suspended, plus a two-thousand-dollar fine. He's also on probation for two-years. The Proctor, Minnesota Police Department plans to auction the customized La-Z-Boy in the future.

There was a third issue in the story I read - he drove it into a parked car.

Wouldn't it be funny if the auction price far outstripped his fine, and he decided to create a business customising roadworthy La-z-boys...:cute:

Didn't they build something like that on Top Gear? (the boat, not the chair...although they may well have done the chair in the past...and I wouldn't be surprised if they did it in the future at some point :D)

The past and the future? Repetetive! Or possibly a cyclical-mystical time base.

a blood alcohol content of point-two-nine, more than triple the legal limit in MinnesotaInterestingly enough, that's almost 6 times the legal limit (of 0.05) in Australia...

And almost ten times the legal limit in Sweden.

And almost {divide by zero error} times the legal limit in Hungary.

More than triple the limit in the UK (0.08%), so we're close.
