Despite having stranded Ryan Shawcross on the bench (ouch) and having Tim Howard in goal (double ouch) I'm reasonably happy with my team following the opening day. Don't mind that Carragher conceded a couple considering he did so against Spurs. :cute: Would have been nice if Arshavin contributed more to Arsenal's goal tally, though.

I had 18 points stuck on the bench. :(

More importantly, I have 16 players who are all available next week.

I decided to not gamble with Foster as i had this sneaking feeling Kuzczak would play (wrong) so i opted for Cech in goal expecting a clean sheet against Hull. Wrong again, and infuriating to see sub keeper Sorensen get loads of points. Mind you at least i had Shawcross.
Always interesting to see who everyone else has in their line ups at this stage of the season. Don't feel the need to make any sudden changes which is probably a good thing and should be able to field 11 for Gameweek 2.

Not getting 0s at the start of the season is a big plus for me

9pts stranded on the bench too. argh. my own stupid fault.

17 points on the bench I think - Going to be a long season.

Still at least I looked ahead and didn't pick loads of players who were out week 2

I gambled on Kuzczak playing, he didn't but sub goalie Sorensen got me 9 points. :D

Last minute changes to bring in guaranteed starters Ferdinand and Torres as I wasn't sure on ManU defence or whether Gerrard would play cost me a fair few points. :(

Fucking Gerrard should have known. He always pulls out of England friendlies and plays the next weekend.

Because Arsenal aren't playing in Gameweek 2 seems to be the reason why many people haven't got Fabregas (what a score he got) or Van Persie. Lots of defenders scoring at the weekend to i noticed. Vermaelen, Gallas, Shawcross, Assou-Ekotto, Bassong and Upson.

I had Sorensen as back-up too - by Sunday morning I was hoping that my gamble on Foster would fail... fortunately that only cost me 3 points.

Yup, and of those, only Shawcross is playing next week, and he's away at Liverpool...

Next week will be interesting. I had a look at the overall leader who racked up 127 points, and of his starting eleven only 3 (Shawcross, Sorensen, Gerrard) are available next week. Ouch.

Keep track of him, I'd be interested to see if you outscore him over teh 2 weeks.

the other thing is there were loads of away wins this weekend. it was rather exceptional all round.

Depends whether he's a casual player or not I suppose.

If he made 8 substitutions he'd still have 29 points more than me. His substitutes don't look much kop either.

If he has just picked his team and left it then maybe... once you get a few weeks in the people who picked a good team but aren't making transfers ought to quickly get overtaken.

I am not sure whether Rooney away at Burnley or Gerrard at home to Stoke is a better bet for captain this week... I was very close to having Lampard as captain last week and I'm glad I thought better of it!

Yeah, picking 3 Arsenal players who don't play week 2 for a very tough opening fixture at Everton shows he has no idea what he's doing. :D

In fact, there's a good argument that the better you scored this week the shitter you are.

Certainly explains why I did so well. I've just bought in a couple of Arsenal players too. Doh.

Glad I stuck with Rooney this week. Was looking distinctly iffy at half-time...

Doing well in this game seems to be about good judgement with a bit of luck, when when it comes to picking your Captain, i never seem to do well and always get bad luck. I went for Fabregas today at home to rubbish Portsmouth. Heard 4-1 score on radio and expected him to get a goal or maybe a couple of assists. No. He only plays 45mins and get gets 1 point! I sometimes wish they'd det rid of the Captain thing. GGRRR! :bash:

Well I have a very acceptable 50 points this week with Lampard, Gerrard, Carvalho and Zamora still to play, although with Faye's 9 points sat in the first substitute spot I rather hope Ancelotti has the good sense to keep Carvalho on the bench again...

I'm starting as averagely as last year.

New season, new lows. I'm firmly in last place with only 8 points this week so far. I still have Gerrard, Kuijt and Torres to play, though.
