Every electric guitar I ever owned was a Les Paul clone. No other make doubled-up as such an effective weapon.

I hope he didn't fret too much, and that his finish was sunburst, and and *runs out of rubbish jokes*

It's sad when anyone dies of course, but at 94 he did better than most. His music is often forgotten, but the albums he made with his wife in the 50s are incredible. He was doing Joe Meek type production before Joe Meek. There's quite a lot on Spotify.

I'd heard he was sick, but hoped he might pickup.

He invented the overdub, which should be reason enough to love anybody.

Must have been weird living your life named after a guitar though.

Did you know this about Les Paul?

In January 1948, Paul shattered his right arm and elbow in a near-fatal automobile accident in Oklahoma. Doctors told him that they could not rebuild his elbow so that he would regain movement; his arm would remain permanently in whatever position they placed it in. Paul instructed the surgeons to set his arm at an angle—just over 90 degrees—that would allow him to cradle and pick the guitar. It took him a year and a half to recover.

What a legend! Oh that reminds me, I've got a crazy guitar case I might be able to sell to his family...if they're looking for a coffin.
