Not me, the previous owner of the house. This is the same guy who had no earth connection on his metal light switches (with a old consumer board with no RCD!) , holes in his floorboards and built a wall in the garden with no foundation so I don't know why anything suprises me anymore.

When he last painted the stairs he was too lazy to lift the carpet. So when I lifted the carpet to redecorate I found that the white gloss stops an inch above the stair treads.

And there's bits of carpet stuck to it.

Lazy Idiot.

residual current device - type of circuit breaker.

All new fuse boxes have them instead of fuses. Its the same tech as the type you would put on a electric mower to stop you being zapped if you ran over the cable.

A good thing to have if you have metal light switches that are unearthed and leaking voltage.

leaky metal switches are standard now too

I think RCD is the fourth generation of Resource Consumer.
