Just astounding that it doesn't suck.

Thread stolen.

It sounds to me that they slowed the Astley vocal tract just a little to sync it with the music.

that's a poor karaoke copy teen spirit backing track and a rick astley acapella. individually they are awful. together they are just as awful.

if you've got a copy of ableton, this sort of thing can be done in less than 20 seconds. since you can tune either stem and time stretch one to fit the other.

i've got some vanilla ice, metallica and michael jackson acapellas that fit perfectly on anything.

There's a billie jean/teen spirit mash on youtube, doesn't work nearly as well. No idea why, maybe it's just my uneducumated ears.

Watching this...at first I thought a lot of the funniness was the contraposition of the clean Astley clips with the grunge looking Nirvana video. But the more I watch, it the more I see basic similarities. Lighting for example. Handwaving of the performers.

The only good bit is Rick Astley dancing through the guitar solo.

It's the Teen Spirit cover backing from Guitar Hero II, I think.
