Well at least all the buttons aren't in Latin any more...

I'd like to complain.

Give me a while until I've figured out what to complain about.

Time to make new custom buttons, fix the colour schemes, remove the unnecessary and unwieldy features that clog up the threads, etc. etc.

Should only take a week of full-time work. Chop chop.

Gah! Too bight! TOO BRIGHT!!! IT BURNSSSSS!!!

The Mad Monk

Seriously, good job! I was afraid we'd get the Poly puke green and no other choices.

The Management
23-05-2009, 15:38:05
The worst thing is, they must have deliberately made that puke green style...

Oerdin
23-05-2009, 15:46:57
I made my own whining thread. :gasmaske_rolleyes:

Oerdin

I suggest we kill the management for attempting to do a good deed. Or at least prank call him at 4am.

Provost Harrison
23-05-2009, 15:50:19
That can be arranged :D

I think I like the new setup well enough. Maybe in time some stuff will start to bug me.

Provost Harrison
23-05-2009, 21:26:33
I've used the newer versions quite a lot...they aren't too bad - we just need to get it to look like we want it to look...ie, about 10 years out of date ;)

Waah waah Waah

I exercise my right to complain

Now, where's the bar. The Management must be standing the drinks for this.

Actually, the old version looked about 1995. This new one looks about 1999, like ICQ before everyone stopped using it.

Petition for a web 2.0-savvy, well-designed forum system? Not this boxy bullshit. Even the usual sub-Mac OS looks will do.

Provost Harrison
23-05-2009, 23:23:05
The question is though - what would you want it to do? It's all very well saying these buzzwords, but what would you want in terms of specification. I don't want it going all "Apple Mac" on me...all presentation and no substance.

Scabrous Birdseed
23-05-2009, 23:32:39
If I could chose? No separation between posts short of a single bar (uncoloured) containing a timestamp and quoting options. A sidebar, full height, with very little information presented in small fonts and a prominent avatar. No coloured boxes, no huge ugly icons, very little colour at all besides the avatar.

Something like Google Reader or IntenseDebate, but Forum-adapted. I'll do a mock-up to show about what I mean.

Provost Harrison
23-05-2009, 23:57:23
Maybe I should create a bulletin board in SAP :D

Scabrous Birdseed

Not necessarily CG, and I'm not a graphic designer, but along these lines:

How would you like to be ritually disembowelled?

Provost Harrison
24-05-2009, 22:18:25
Hey, it's doable. It's a great idea - everyone will be doing it! :D

MDA
24-05-2009, 23:35:24

The number of posts vs the number of replies still makes it confusing for the M hunt threads.

Can the management adjust the column 'replies' to 'posts' to include the opening post?

Drekkus
25-05-2009, 09:26:20
-The active posters should be visible on top of the forumpage

-the 'Forum Jump' button should be moved from far right to the left (switch with the 'posting rules'). Or even better: to above the quick reply field -> Put the "post reply' button on the right and the 'jump forum' button on the left.
Unnecessary scrolling should be avoided at any time

Yeah, that annoys me too, bring the forum jum button up..
The "previous thread/next thread" links I've never used, there is no reason to make them so accessible, sink them to the very bottom where I can pretend they don't exist :p

Btw, what's the difference in function to quoting a post and the 'quick reply to this message' button?

I want the old style Back!
