So, now that BSG and Stargate: Atlantis are wrapping up, any word on any good new (or recent) Sci Fi series?

Been tempted to have a look at Star Trek: Enterprise, even if it is almost 5 years old now. Any good?

Same with the new Doctor Who, heard that was pretty good, but again haven't seen any of it.

Other than that, living in this backwater that I live in, I haven't heard of anything... If only they'd resurrect Firefly somehow.

Enterprise is pretty shit

Doctor Who is pretty good

Just don't make the mistake (I did  ) of hoping Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is any good.

Oddly enough, I watched about the first 6-8 episodes of that and while it wasn't great, it was... watchable...

It got much better I thought.

I did hear briefly on Fox last night something about a new Sci Fi show that was some sort of internet phenomenon. Except I was in the other room concentrating on something else and wasn't really paying attention...

Apparently Sarah Connor Chronicles got canceled, no surprise but it was just getting good. :(

Well, it went from the 18M viewers of the premiere to under 4M..

I agree it did get better in the second season (the second finale was excellent) still I could't stand all the "teenager who wants to live a normal life" crap

Dollhouse is the new series by Joss Whedon. I haven't watched so can't comment. But it's on Fox and on Friday nights, so I wouldn't get attached.

Also, bizarrely because it's a Fox production, it's coming to the Sci-Fi channel here. Not promising that Sky1 didn't get it?

Holy shit, glad I looked it starts tonight!!

Exactly what made me stop watching after the end of the first season. Just couldn't stand the stupid teenage angst. I was hoping for something cool, but instead it was just 90210 the Robot Years.

It was completely unrealistic that a teenage boy with a sexy female robot (who he established would do everything he asked and was a fully functioning sex robot) wouldn't spend most of his time shagging it.

*especially* if he thought his life would soon end?

They had him under contract or something I think.

Fair enough then. Just wish they'd resurrect Firefly. Damn shame that died out. :(

Surprised you didn't 100-0 me there. :p

Still, I vaguely remember signing one for Firefly way back when. :nervous:

Hey Greg, I believe there is a new Stargate series starting later this year - Universe or something...so I heard.

Dollhouse is pretty good. It got a 2nd season, but don't get to attached. The ratings were beyond abysmal. Don't blame Fox for canceling stuff that barely outdraws the Spanish language channels.

Greg W

Yeah, but in the case of Firefly, when they screen the opening show which explains everything at the same time as the Superbowl, and then wonder why people can't figure out what's going on next week when they watch Ep 2...

Or something like that, that's what I seem to remember happening with Firefly...

SciFi (SyFy, soon ) is starting some new "warehose #something" show that looks a lot like a ripoff of Sanctuary. I'm not expecting much.

The new Stargate is supposed to be more suspense/horror than the others. Also not appealing to me.

whoops.

Well, SGU has aired it's final episode, apparently (I haven't seen it) leaving it open to be brought back later. And Syfy now shows WWE, amongst other non sci-fi shows. Not looking good for Sci Fi shows...

And boy are Syfy copping shit on Facebook about it. Almost 1000 negative comments about their cancellation of SGU under their announcement of a final day SGU marathon prior to airing the last episode.

Oddly enough though, the channel is still called Sci-Fi in Australia. :clueless:

Between the wrestling and the handful of identical, mind numbingly awful ghost hunt series, they've got a huge block of time caught up in shit programming.

Also, the Saturday made-for-TV movies are really bad, but I can watch and laugh at them like they're MST3000 movies.

"Outcasts" divided opinions, but I really enjoyed it. It had a nicely brooding atmosphere.

Yeah, I was very disappointed it was canned.

SGU sucked. I liked the first two series in the Stargate franchise but SGU was boring as all get go.

So the intellectual, moody, character driven version with a decent plot (compared to the others) bored you?

So that was it, was it?

Got the info from here: http://www.itsbloggerintime.com/2011/03/outcasts-episode-eight-carpathia-we.html

It was an interestingly annoying series, I was willing it to work all along, but I always found plenty to gripe about - though it didn't stop me coming back for more!

I think the BBC fucked it over big time though, because they churned through it something like two episodes a week to the extent that although I actually saw the last episode, I genuinely believed that there was another one coming - the finale with the final ship landing - as I thought it was a mini-series and not a first series cliffhanger, as seems the intent.

It is really annoying because plenty of the ideas etc were really good and showed promise.

I think their expectations were too high for it.

It was only ever an episode a week though wasn't it?

Funko

We had it on Sky+ so didn't really notice when it was actually recording.

It was 2 episodes back to back (on Saturday??) I seem to remember.
I gave it six episodes I think cos I was convinced it was still to get up to speed, but it was one of the worst series I've seen in a long time. Terrible characters, effects, props (those plastic guns??) all of it very very bad.

Serenity is on UK TV tonight, might watch that, it's supposed to be a film based on Firefly? isn't it?

-EDIT it wasn't saturday night, that was "the killing", but I think they did show 2 a week

It's a film which is basically the conclusion to Firefly.

I watched Primeval reruns recently. It never seemed to figure out where it was headed in terms of overall story.

I liked Serenity, they fleshed out the Reaver story in it.

It was great.

Firefly was just starting to get good when it ended, and Serenity showed where it could have gone.

Firefly rocked and I would love to see it taken up again one day. Can't see it, but it'd be great.

I don't understand why Firefly gets so lauded. Sure, it was fun, but they were just rehashed Western plots.

I liked outcasts - they started it 2 episodes a week sunday-monday then moved to one a week.

It had really built up nicely to the point where things were really starting to go strange - can't belive they canned it (also can't belive they only made 6 (or was it 8) episodes to start with.
