OK genius peeps. Some advice.

Background : I tried to check my UK lottery ticket the other morning and found that the UK national lottery site had been blocked.

I challenged this with the IT nannies who said that it was blocked as "it was a gambling site and there was no business case for removing the block". OK, fair enough. But this fits into a general mean-spirited and bureaucratic assault against the staff who work here. So I resolved to get round it.

First, I tried other browsers. They had completely blocked Opera, Firefox and K-Meleon from the outside world. Safari will let me get out but the lottery block still works.

I guess that there is a list of IP addresses of sites that are deemed unsuitable and these are matched and then the block happens.

Is there some way a target IP address could get spoofed or something to fool the firewall?

You could always use an internet proxy site. Just search Google until you come across one that isn't blocked by THE MAN!

curious, right this weekend we had it broadcasted on public TV

watched a few seconds, and quickly decided to bypass it
it just took a button on the remote control
