i just picked it up and spent the last few hours playing it. it's by far not shabby. i like it better than the previous one, as i generally dislike basebuilding sims unless i have some time to think about it.

anyone else have it? i'm on steam: self biased.

I didn't know it existed. Liked the last one. What's the major differences?

I heard it had no base building. Is that true?

Gave up and googled.

Playable armies at the initial release of the game include the Space Marines, Orks, Eldar, and Tyranids.

Might get it...

This can be a very successful MP game like that space ship one... oh.

Is this a continuation of the euphemism? But yeah, can even play co-op.

Why no 2v2 mode?

Game runs... my brother had a gig last night so after installing and 30 mins of steam updates only played the first mission.

I like the grenades and wargear aspects already.

Crazy. Wonder if there's some regional bias.

Do we need to play through windows live in game?

Anyway, played a lot more missions, got my first glimpse of the Tyranids. Quite enjoying it although I'm having to run it on just about the lowest settings possible. :(

With so few troops you really do have to do a lot of micro, but at least every ability has a decent effect so you feel like it's worth it.

Right, I think I am now friends with you on Steam. I went in via the website rather than the client and I had a friend invite pending from you.

So what's the final verdict?

I haven't played it again yet. Too busy with other stuff.

I played a bit more, had a bit of a skirmish. It's good. The "no base building" aspect is a little overegged.

You still have a base, you still have to upgrade it to unlock better units, you can still build defensive structures... er.. yeah, you just don't have to build 4 unit building structures.

Like DoW it's frantic with fighting starting from the first few seconds over resource points and objectives.

Oh and I totally suck at it. Just the right mix of familiarity and difference that you find yourself looking in the wrong place for every feature all the time.
