I want to get a box and set it up almost solely to act as a network music server. I was thinking about this barebones system (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16856107036) and want to make sure I understand what I'm getting into. If I get the box, am I correct that I will only get the motherboard with it? I then only need to get the processor, hard drive, ram and dvd/cd drive?

Also, a 1TB harddrive should fit b/c the case appears to have a slot for a 3.5" drive, correct?

Will a normal cd/dvd drive fit (in other words, what is that stuff about slim ODD bay)?

Maybe I should just get a NAS?

This thread could end up funnier than Oerdin's cider thread.

As long as you use it as a music server only that's what i'd do.

I was trying to save money, but in the end that is probably the way to go.

If pieces of his system end up stuck all over the dining room ceiling, everybody wins.

That was an unfortunate episode.

I literally fell off my chair laughing when I read about the exploding cider

Nah, NAS is pretty spent. You should get a Lil Wayne, or perhaps a Tito Lopez.

Well, I decided against the NAS (and Lil Wayne as well, but I must admit Tito Lopez was tempting), and am just going to build a cheap server using an old case. NAS in the end seems overpriced for what you get.
