Funko
22-01-2009, 10:55:33
So why would Asher be interested in it?

protein
22-01-2009, 10:57:30
maybe he's attending a gay and lesbian disco later and needs to know what lesbians are into.

I laaik the word snatcher, reminds me od some bad killer movies of the 80's

snatch is one of the few slang words for vagina that my wife isn't mortally offended by. the other is hoochiesnorcher.

I particularly liked 'Growler' in NZ.

I'm joining. It's probably the highest profile Rails site and I see they are using the same registration plugin we use.

Who are you on the twitter?

Funko

I just followed you. funko.

Funko

I think I need more people to follow to gain a critical mass.

Asher

Yes.

Also, explore twitter apps.

On Mac/iphone/ipod touch, twitteriffic is best.: http://iconfactory.com/software/twitterrific/

On Windows, TweetDeck is very popular: http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/
as is Twhirl: http://www.twhirl.org/

at work I use OutTwit which is an Outlook plugin that adds a toolbar and renders tweets as emails: http://www.techhit.com/OutTwit/
http://www.techhit.com/OutTwit/ot.png
It even works with "reply" and "reply to all", responding with a directmessage or @-tweet as appropriate. To post a new update I just type up in the field at the top and hit enter.

Yeah, I've got the opera widget.

Asher
29-01-2009, 16:07:31
Opera's still around?

Funko
29-01-2009, 16:10:33
It's actually got good again. Renders very fast like Chrome but also very secure.

Funko
29-01-2009, 16:11:42
I've got all the browsers for testing anyway, the opera widgets are little independent apps.

Asher
29-01-2009, 16:43:09
Opera just never felt right. The interface is slightly weird.

I don't see a point to it anymore with the competition.

Judging by its declining marketshare it seems I'm in tune with the world at large on this.

Funko
29-01-2009, 16:49:47
Yeah. I am quite fickle with web browsers.

I came back to Opera 'cause it was so fast on the Wii. Would still be mainly using Firefox but Firefox 3 was/is so incredibly slow.

Asher
29-01-2009, 17:07:16
But it's faster than Opera?

Funko

That is comparing a lot of versions which I don't have. Opera seems very quick.

I do have a lot of web development plugins in Firefox though, I think that's what's slowing it down.

Chrome definitely seemed fastest but was really buggy. Should try the new version.

Asher
29-01-2009, 17:39:18
Newest version (I'm on the 2.0 builds) is still very buggy.

Asher
29-01-2009, 17:42:21
If you do lots of web development you should check out Selenium: http://seleniumhq.org/

We use it in our company for some complex web apps and it is amazing.

Funko
30-01-2009, 09:08:23
Yeah, we use that. It's very good.

Just worked out how to send twits by text.:)

Funko
30-01-2009, 12:23:36
What network are you on? If it's not Vodafone betware 'cause they might charge you international text rates!

MOBIUS
30-01-2009, 12:46:15
What-what!? It's a UK number I'm sending them to! Fucking bastards!

Orange btw.

Funko
30-01-2009, 13:09:45
It's Isle of Mann and some operators are treating that as non-UK. It's a bit contentious!

Funko
30-01-2009, 13:11:44
Apparently there's an OFCOM complaint going through about it 'cause some providers imply they cover Isle of Mann as UK but are charging international for it.

MoSe
30-01-2009, 13:16:28
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isle_of_Man

The head of state is Queen Elizabeth II, who holds the title of Lord of Mann.

Lord Elizabeth?

:clueless:

Funko

Vodafone possibly charge too. Last message from them on it seems to be August last year.

SEE THE ABOVE FUCKING LINK

The Isle of Man (/ˈmæn/; Manx: Ellan Vannin,[1] pronounced [ˈɛlʲən ˈvanɪn]), or Mann (Manx: Mannin, [ˈmanɪn]), is a self-governing Crown dependency, located in the Irish Sea at the geographical centre of the British Isles.
