Hello. I hope everyone is alive!
I have been completely sober for 4 months. Hehe.
Life is a lot less interesting, much more stressful, linear and in general it sucks being sober because then you'd have to program your life in a way that it gives you calm and serenity by itself which sometimes is rather hard.
The positives is that you have no memory loss, your verbally rage outbreaks are... non existant and in general there's
so much stress!

Apart from that all is normal. Job ok, got an even better one, and life is a bit dull... a bit empty
People are burning the streets killing eachother normal things.

Cool. I remember Athens had gangs that used to meet up in squares and beat the crap out of each other with bicycle chains and bits of wood...

Kinda scary when they suddenly appear all around you in a frenzy of mutual violence - kinda exciting too once you realise they're completely ignoring you.

Athens...

Ha! Paiktis was a full blown alcoholic. I knew we had to have at least one on CG.

So you're only an alcoholic if you quit? Great.

I wasn't an alcoholic but I was in grave danger of becoming one. The beast came at night with immense stress for some reason (I suspected it to have been primarily existential) and retsina was a very good solution or so it seemed.
The turning point, I think, was when I landed the very good job at the newspaper. I went to meet the collegeues, had a great time and then.... I bought a botlle of strong liquer and started drinking untill I almost passed out!
I thought, wtf.. I had been on umemployment for two months and in grave stress, now that I had the job and everything was going great again then why the fuck did I do that?!
I got scared at myself (because there was no reason, none I could explain) and run to the therapist. He prescribed me some anti-stress drugs saying (I remeber it vivindly) "I don't want alcohol to become your stress reliever". I took them for a few weeks and then sort of glided back into not drinking. Although a couple of beers I still drink. But it is not compulsive as it was in grave danger of becoming.

BTW, personally I disagree strongly with these forms of protests against the police.

I should also add that a very very strong kick in the stomach came from surfing the site of the Anonymous Alcoholics. I did that the next day after that crazy drinking and it said that there is only one road you go if you continue drinking: jail.
Somehow that was like a kick in the face. It ringed completely true. After that I went to see the therapist.

And don't forget the alienate everyone you care for and grow old and lonely with only alcohol to keep you company.
