What with work being oh so quiet at the moment, I've got a little time on my hands. So, I was thinking I could use this time productively to learn something. What shall I start with?

Oh, and Alsie, just distract yourself with Wedding stuff. You may not learn anything, but it seems to keep you happy. :D

alsieboo

People get a little worried when I start looking at wedding stuff, and rumors are rife at work anyway because I started seeing someone on Friday, don't really want to add fuel to the fire!!

Dutch lesson 2.

De wijn is op - the wine is finished

Nou breekt mijn klomp - I'm flabbergasted!

Now let's put together everything you know:

Drekkus de wijn is op, nou breekt mijn klomp.

Shit kiss, the wine is empty! I'm flabbergasted!

Now you are fluent.

Funko

Oooh I learnt a new one.

Dat kun je op je klompen aanvoelen

You can feel it in your wooden shoes.

Funko

More dutch for Alsie

Ik weet niet eens hoe hij heet
I don't even know his name

Ik zal je eens wat moois laten zien
I want to show you something beautiful

Ho eens even!
Not so fast !

Ze schelen minstens een meter
They differ at least one meter in length

Het scheelde niet veel of ik viel in slaap
I almost fell asleep

Je valt met je neus in de boter!
[lit: You fall with your nose into the butter]
You came exactly at the right moment!

Mag het licht uit?
Could you turn off the light?

Possibly it is, that's different from "that broke my shoe"

The Dutch are obsessed with wooden shoes.
