Linky (http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=103006)Columbia Records has set an October 20 release date for AC/DC's widely anticipated "Black Ice", the band's first studio album in eight years. "Black Ice" (see artwork below) features 15 new tracks from brothers Angus and Malcolm Young, Brian Johnson, Cliff Williams, and Phil Rudd. The album was recorded in Vancouver in just eight weeks with producer Brendan O'Brien, who has previously worked with PEARL JAM, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN and VELVET REVOLVER, among others.

"Rock 'N Roll Train", the album's first single, will debut on August 28. A source at Harddrive Radio described it as "smoking hot. It's AC/DC like we love them, loud, anthemic and hard!" The video will premiere in September.A bloke on Triple M (radio station) was saying that he had heard 6 of the tracks, and they were back to the AC/DC of old. Great riffs, catchy choruses...

Looking forward to it.

widely anticipated

Almost as "widely anticipated" as Cheap Trick's newest.

well, lets be honest. How good can this possibly be?

Very poor I'll wager.

Who knows? Could be as good as Back in Black. Though I'll give you, that's highly dubious. Frankly, if it's as good as Blow up Your Video, I'll be happy.

Though I did wonder if Novacane's comment was a subtle reference to the fact that there was an AC/DC song titled "Shake your foundations". :cute:

AC/DC also doesn't know the whole internet thing...they refuse to release digitally in addition to CD.

They also are available in the US exclusively from Wal-Mart for the new album.

They know their market... haha.

Having heard the first single, it's no world beater, that's for sure. It's ok, just not great. It's like they're trying to return to the past, trying to focus a little more on good, simple riffs and catchy lyrics ... but they're not quite making it.

Be interesting to see if the rest of the album improves on that or not.
