A colleague of mine, with whom I've been working for the past 8 years, has been out of the office for the past few weeks. I thought he was on vacation, but I've just been told that he's been diagnosed with cancer. He's got metastasis in the lungs, liver and both sides of the brain, just underwent brain surgery which apparently saved his life (but for how long ?) and will start heavy chemiotherapy treatment next week.

He's 48 years old, with teenage kids :(

Life sucks sometimes. I'm going home to see if the sight of my daughter can cheer me up.

Jesus. I'm sorry to hear that. I hope he has life insurance so his family will be okay financially (in case he doesn't make it).

My mother's had breast cancer twice, and I lost one of my grandmothers and two of my aunts to cancer. I don't mind dying of it, but not at 48 with a family to care for.

And just when you think your life is depressing, you hear of someone else who has things much worse than you do. :(

Damn, cancer truly is a horrible thing. My dad had a scare about 10 years ago with testicular. There is a bit of a history of it in my family, so I take every possible opportunity to feel my balls...

Sorry to hear that, Red. But I'm sure the site of your daughter cheered you up. It never fails.

Thanks for the kind messages.

My colleague is recovering quite well, morale is good, although I'm not sure he fully realises the extent of his condition. Starting chemio this week.

He asked for chocolate and visits of hot chicks :)

Red, don't you think she might come up a bit too jaded?
At that age, you've already set up a website only for her!
