Mass Effect - is great, so far. Usual Bioware storytelling techniques, except with aliens and co. =)

Are you playing the PC version? I've been waiting for all the graphics card issues to be worked out before I get it.

I'm playing via a workaround issue where I start the game directly from the folder in administartor mode. So far that's worked fine, but for a single crash that lost me no more than 5 minutes (most of which was restarting the game).

SecureRom strikes again, apparently. Now there's a terrorist organisation that has it's shit sorted out. =/

Sounds like fun

The game itself is brilliant. Everything else, from SecureRom to EA to waiting a year or more for the PC port, sucks donkey bollocks.

Personally, I'd rather it was that way round than the opposite. =)

Well, I saw it yesterday at a local EB and was tempted to buy it straight away... but then I decided to wait and read some reviews.. I actually found some negative ones :(

In particular it seems that the Mako (if I got it right is the vehicle you use to explore planets) is too difficult to control, targeting system is frustrating and in general the AI in combat is very poor..

Did you experience any of the above?

Plus there are complains about it being too much action, too few RPG. About this, I absolutely loved Jade Empire, and while I agree there is a lot of action there I liked it and imo it's pretty balanced, how does the two games compare in that regard?

The Mako was really hard to control on the 360 version. You got used to it eventually, but it could get pretty frustrating.

Haven't gotten far enough (liek nub levels still) to comment on the Mako.

So far not enough action too much RPG for my tastes. If you liked Jade Empire you will have no trouble with the balance in ME... again, speaking for the not terribly much stuff that I've done so far.

No fantastically challenging enemies so far, but then again enough to make sure you can't actually rambo through them (or at least rambo without using any tank skills). If you are a true master of tactic squad based combat games, you might find ME a little... pathetic. OTOH, if you're a fan of rpg/mmo games and have been wondering how one might work a tactical squad based combat style game into an mmo setting, ME is very very interesting.

This is thread is all about ME ME ME, btw. :D

Controls seem much better than the 360 version... speed of loading/etc is better as well.

On the other hand, there were a few crashes to desktop, a couple major graphical glitches, and you have to click 'run as administrator' each time.

I might wait until Christmas to get it.

The mako ISN'T really easy to drive. That's the worst I can say about it.

Game is brilliant. Amazing experience on the first play through, really worth the effort to get it going.

Am enjoying this a lot. Didn't find the Mako that hard to get to grips with, only lost it down the canyon on the ice planet once.

Found combat tricky till I got the hang of using cover properly - ie lnot trying to sidestep in and out of cover but using the popout attacks instead.

Love the aliens, Ashley is doing my head in, and why do 90% of the female population have the same haircut?
