After three hours of building and installing I have my first unix based PC up and running.

and its in a gorgeous antex fusion media center case and running on a 32" flat screen in my living room.

No wI just have to figure out how ubuntu actually works (has taken 45min to get the wireless network up and running).

Have been struggling with the graphics drivers for some time - it keeps switching away from the nvidia version and trying to get the LCD panel on the front working is making my head spin.

I'm going to have to find a book....

Just 45 minutes? What's the secret?

no secret - it took me about that long to realise that sticking the USB stick straight in the rear USB resulted in the case sheilding it from the router.

Have now spent 4 hours working on it and although I now have sound and DVD/mp3 playback working I still cant get the Nvidia drivers working so am stuck with the shitty unaccelerated VESA driver.

Moral of story - if your buying for linux don't buy a newish nvidia chipset. Get an older one that works straight out of the box.

I have now found a method that claims to sort it but havnt had a chance to try it.

Not looking forward to trying to get the drivers for the front LCD panel to work...

I think it's more of a problem with the new Nvidia drivers - they seem to have problems that didn't exist the previous version.

Oh. I guess I have a different problem then.
