this is a philological thread
of course my philology skills are a bit shit but that's appropriate

In latin languages, this is clearly the shittiest day of the week

I think you all might have seen some TV movie about Napoleon, Waterloo and Cambronne to know what I'm talking about

Anglo-saxon ones show instead an interesting drift:

Mistwoch
with the day casting a brown shadow on the whole week!

Brits instead save it all for the day after!

In most Western countries Monday is the shittiest day of the week.

We call it "hump day".

I've been told it's because when the work week is thought of as a hill, wednesday is the top, and it's downhill from there.

I think it because it's the day we realize that the weekend is still far off, and we are well and truly fucked.

MM, that's indeed the meaning of the german correct word (Mittwoch = midweek)
