I know this because on Sky Sports News this morning in their "on this day..." feature they mentioned the Arsenal vs Sheffield Utd cup game he went to. Arsenal controversially scored a goal when Sheffield had a player injured and in the end the game was replayed. Anyway, I met Venom that evening.

We also met up with FunkyFingers who'd just started seeing this girl... he was complaining about the bad timing of meeting a girl just before Valentines day, now he's married to her and they have a baby!

Amazing.

Time flies when you're getting old as fuck.

Funko
13-02-2008, 16:37:05
That is true.

Funko
13-02-2008, 16:37:26
It's amazing how little we've achieved in those 9 years.

Venom
13-02-2008, 16:38:38
We're very amazing people.

In those 9 years I've graduated from college, changed jobs like 4 times, been rejected by at least 25 women, started a blog, traveled to 4 different countries, drank approximately 10,000 beers, played an inordinate amount of video games and watched no less than 3000 hours of porn. That's quite an achievement list.

When you put it like that it seems like a lot.

I'm impressed. Mainly with the women bit.

Just one?

Funko
13-02-2008, 16:55:29
I've formed and gigged in 3 bands, written music reviews for the BBC and a magazine, started 2 blogs, co-organised a charity festival, co-organised (and lost money on) screwball cabaret, co-organised 2 years worth of fringe festivals, travelled to at least 8 countries, drunk at least 5000 beers and dozens of bottles of wine, bought a house, gained a Tizzy AND been inducted into the Apolyton Hall of Fame!

Chris

I burped and scratched my ass.

MDA
13-02-2008, 17:01:49
Well, if you got into the Poly Hall of Fame, you've also lost your immortal soul. I don't know if you should add that or if its just understood.

Funko
13-02-2008, 17:03:27
I didn't think I had one to lose, so no biggy.

Venom
13-02-2008, 17:04:43
I also traveled to Las Vegas, played a bunch of golf and soccer, ran probably 2000 miles, went to the gym about 1000 times, learned how to wakeboard, forgot how to wakeboard and spent about 1000 hours puking due to the 10,000 beers thing mentioned above.

Tizzy
13-02-2008, 17:06:13
I've moved house 4 times, changed job 3 times (or 6, depending how you look at it...), got married and divorced, been to 6 foreign countries, drunk more wine than Chile produces in a year (probably), played a few gigs, bought a house, posted a load of bollocks on CG, been funny at least 3 times and fooled Funko into thinking I'm nice for close to 3.5 years.

Funko
13-02-2008, 17:06:47
Also, can I just say, fuck decimal based anniversaries.

Nonary FTW!

Funko
13-02-2008, 17:07:57
3.5 years?!

Funko
13-02-2008, 17:10:08
I've moved house 5 times and changed jobs 0 times or 1 times depending how you look at it.

Thinking about what I've done for the past 9 years is depressing, seeing as I was 11 at the time!!

Funko
13-02-2008, 17:16:41
That's certainly depressing for me!

I've graduated from college, moved 4 times (not counting to different dorm rooms), went to the gym about 2000 times, been rejected by at least 15 women, drank approximately 4,000 drinks, played an inordinate amount of video games and watched more than 3000 hours of porn.

nine years - I got married about then, stopped enjoying research, finished school (and briefly regained my sanity), got a job, moved twice, bought a house (lost sanity again). I've been to San Diego twice (including detours to Joshua Tree and Hollywood), Disney (Orlando), New England twice (Boston, Plymouth, the Cape, Providence, Mount Washington), Yellowstone/Grand Tetons, Outer Banks twice. I've participated in 4? mudruns, and gone through a few dozen pairs of running shoes. I've gained 20 pounds and lost five. My mother survived breast cancer and a benign thyroid tumor, my wife has had two "could it be cancer?" scares, ovarian and breast, and had surgery for the ovarian thing. I've had a benign tumor removed from my little finger (I miss you, Red Six. ). We adopted a "rescued" 2 year old Australian Shepherd, who's now nine. I have a stable government job in the same building my wife works in, and our house is located in one of the few zip codes in the county that hasn't lost property value since we bought it.

I might just be the luckiest son of a bitch to ever walk the earth. I can't think of a reason I deserve it, lets hope karma doesn't notice me.

Last nine years ... nope, nothing much comes to mind. No job change; no house change; worked in the Netherlands for a while; I occasionally move from the sofa in front of the PC to the sofa in front of the telly. Highlights have to be the two trips to NZ and lowlight is the reboot episode of 7.5 years ago.

You know Funko, now you are going to have to remember other anniversaries also...

Became an entrepreneur, failed as an entrepreneur, restarted as an entrepreneur, failed as an entrepreneur, re-restarted as an entrepreneur, failed as an entrepreneur. So took route 1: became a salaryman, flat owner, husband, father.

fuck originality.

I dropped out of school, got a first diploma in performing arts and 2 GCSE's, got 2 prestigious singing awards within the RSCM, lost my virginity, slept with far too many men and not enough women, came out to my family, got 2 jobs, fallen in love, had my heart broken and went abroad for the first time, drunk far less than all of you and developed an allergy to cashew nuts.

Wow, since 2000 I've:

Been to University, met and lost contact with Bossman. Changed job 4 times and eventually got into my chosen career, had two children, moved house 3 times and eventually bought my own house over a year ago, owned around cars ranging from an Audi A4 to a VW Lupo, put on around 3 stone in weight, been compared to Vin Diesel and Shane Ward 10,000 times... oh and been to one CG meet.

I played SMAC and met ppl on the internet

And trained a lot in not getting lured into life achievement summaries
Learned to not be bothered that my life sucks (provided I could say I have one in the first place)

I'm amazed no one counted the wankey and/or the wipey

I counted the porn. Wank is implied in that. I sure wasn't watching it for the quality acting performances.

Since 1999... met you all online, managed to meet none of you in person, took a critical part in organizing the Polish civ players' scene by creating the first effectively running forum and co-creating the first professional, and still largest, fan site (a fact due to which I'm no doubt hated by the spouses of participating community members ;) ), was rejected by a couple of girls/women, rejected about the same number, finished high school, studied for a year at a local university, moved for 4 years to Austria, finished my bachelor's, largely finished my Master's, started working, including a brief lapse out of self-employment, and drank an inordinate amount of beer, vodka, wine and mead.
