I initially thought it wasn't a big deal, but on the other hand it seemed massive.

But is it a practical joke? ;)

Awesome! I spent all last evening trying to come up with a similar pun.

Well, you've got to hand it to him, he certainly clawed his way back into the limelight towards the end.

You've never heard that one before? It's very old.

Nills Lagerbaak

I have heard it in the context of Jeremy Beadle has a small penis, but on the other hand....

OK, so I didn't spend the whole evening trying to come up with a similar pun, but you know what I mean

You spent the whole evening wanking?

I do.

SIZE is not important.

odd luck to get leukemia after spending most of his career raising money for a leukemia charity

Funko

If only he'd also raised money for pneumonia charities.

I think we're losing track of the fact that he was a great entertainer. Let's give him a big hand.

Preparations for the funeral are in place. In keeping with their desire for a low-key affair, his family are restricting catering to a little finger buffet.

"In recent years he had battled poor health after being diagnosed with a mild form of leukaemia in 2005."

I beg to differ that it was mild.

Kidney cancer, pneumonia and leukaemia. Fate sure dealt him a bad hand.

Seriously though, it's such a bad hand. You wouldn't count on that would you?

If only he could've got the lid off his pills :(

Well, in this case fate clearly wasn't even-handed.

So, I'm starting to get the vague impression this guy was missing one of his hands.

I actually met him just before Christmas and thought at the time that he’d kinda ‘let himself go’ without actually realising the extent of his health problems – I guess it all make sense now…:(

He actually seemed like a friendly, enthusiastic and interesting chap in real life, considering when he was on TV he used to annoy the hell out of me.

Funko

I met him years ago at a poker tournament when I was at uni in Birminham. He seemed really nice.

But for some reason stormed out when I said he had a really shit hand.

Yeah, that's it, I just remember him as being this annoying, slightly dodgy bloke who lurked in bushes...glad to hear he was more

"and", not "or". The picture in Wikipedia is a tad too informative, isn't it?

EDIT: rest of comment removed. In retrospect, it was a tad too stupid, even for CG.

I think the overuse of puns in this thread and lack of proper reverence is disgusting. I can see a few people making fun of him, sure. But everyone? Counterglow's image of Jeremy Beadle is really lopsided.

Perhaps you are partially right - the usage of puns in an obituary thread is not exactly the height of savouir vivre.

However, in relation to your final comment - I cannot imagine anyone here actually directing the puns against the guy (nor were my puns directed against the sufferers of Poland syndrome, to make myself clear). So, stupid - absolutely. Distasteful - possibly. Malicious - no way.

Oh, sorry, I must have been too subtle. That entire post was a setup in order to be able to make a "Jeremy Beadle is really lopsided" pun.

I think he's faked his death to return as a superhero.

Aarghhhhhhh!!!! Remind not to post in pun-addled threads at two thirty :p.

Please stop the puns

Well I suppose at least he could never have died from the clap ;)

:D Is it too much to expect an even handed debate on his lifetime achievements?

if Beadle falls and nobody hears him, isn't it just a joke?
