View Full Version : Why do we do it?

Feeling rather philomasophical tonight. I found out that I didn't get into the Uni courses that I applied for. It's not mega surprising, because I only decided very late in the year to apply, and thus didn't have time to do any courses that may (or may not) have helped me get in. But still, I had gotten my hopes up for it, and I was really looking forward to it.

I guess especially because recently I have begun to develop a severe dislike for management at my depot. They're wankers, well, at least the guys at the very top. They're short staffed, and yet they're still hammering us on the smallest little things, and have been doing so for ages now.

Add to that the idiots on the road that have no idea how to drive around heavy vehicles, and abuse you even when they're the ones doing the wrong thing. Customers that sometimes abuse you for stuff that's not your problem. And even workmates who care so much more about themselves that they'll gladly cut you off to save themself a few seconds.

So, what is it that makes us get up after being kicked? Why, when given disappointment after disappointment do we still keep trying? I mean, it's not like there's some magical fairy that's going to make everything allright just because you keep trying. Where do we get that hope, that optimism from?

I mean, I know I'll get up in the morning and go to work. I know that eventually the disappointment will fade. Eventually either the job will improve, or I'll get the shits and throw it in and look for something else. I wish I knew why though...

Do they have something like ‘clearing’ in OZ?

Basically once everyone has been given places, there’s normally places left over in various random courses at each Uni for whatever reason. Then you can get in as long as you meet their minimum requirements as opposed to competing with other potential students…

Obviously it’s not the course you want at the place you want, but if you check what’s available you might find something else you’ll want to do in order to keep the dream alive.

In response to why, without asking that question I would not have been able to offer advice that you might not know about and thus potentially keep your dream alive.:)

Or something like that…

I have a great porno featuring said scenario. Sadly the male lead's dick bends the wrong way. it's a bit disturbing, but not enough to ruin the film.

The percent of disturbing porn that I have seen that had a guy in it is a lot higher then the percent that had just girls (unforunately, disturbing of all types is common though).

I find most porn disturbing because it quite often conains huge amounts of sex scenes.

That sentence itself is frankly disturbing, JM.

There is disturbing and disturbing. I didn't mean tentacle type or whatever in my comment.

I mean, general type, the sort that many guys buy/download/whatever.

I try not to get up anymore. I like to just around and hope that someone will run over me and finish me off.

I think you should rephrase that given the way this thread has moved on from the OP.
