View Full Version : Charlie Wilson’s War

A chilling case of history repeating itself, I enjoyed this film as I expected to.

From the intro it was a great expose into someone who was actually a likeable character and the unlikely turn of events that put into motion America’s covert war against the Soviets in Afghanistan.

The ending was a bit by the numbers, but then this is a historical piece dealing with how they got things started and not how it all ended. So I suppose that was slightly disappointing, but off the top of my head I can’t think of a better way to do it.

The overwhelming message of the film however is that America always finds it easy to destroy things, but always loses interest in the really important part of rebuilding…
