Which is better and will eventually win the format war?

04-01-2008, 18:08:08
Not sure that there ever will be a winner, 1) the two products are incredibly similar (especially from a non-techy pov) 2) Digital distribution is likely to come to the fore in the next few years.

Sitting on fence here, saying that I will probably get a highdef setup once GTA4 appears...

I'm glad the thread was useful.

I got banned for calling Agathon delusional in that thread. He called me a racist psychopath antisemite and got a warning.

It's a testament to the quality of the administration, really, in addition to a wonderful thread.

Did you say Blu-Ray is for Jews? Because that's a plain, solid fact.

Yesterday I read that Toshiba says HD is not finished yet. Which means of course it's history.
PS3 was the avantgarde for blue ray. PS3 owners will buy some blue discs and occasionally some hightech blue disc player once they don't want to use the PS3 as a player

Yes, PS3 is Blu-Ray's trojan horse.

HD-DVD has a much better name though. Everyone knows what HDTV and DVD are.

I say everyone, obviously some of our posters won't know.

Blue Ray sounds like a C&W crooner

It's all over but the crying anyway.

I almost got a blu-ray player with my new DVD because the blu-ray demos in the store all look much better than the HD-DVD ones.

oh noes

I don't even have an HD TV at the moment, so I'm happy to give it a year to let the dust finally settle on this battle.

17-01-2008, 18:00:04
Ok, so it's not over.

Somebody in the HD-DVD camp must be paying a big chunk of money for that to have happened.
