Why do geek forums have an Off-Topic section? Surely, geeks don't need one.

Is it just because UBB/V-Bulletin etc have this there as a default?

Dr Evil said that his father "made ridiculous claims like he'd invented the questionmark" suggesting that Dr Evil didn't believe that his father invented it, so who did?

The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament.

It was two for the price of one, I think.

It saves reading the sentence again after you've discovered it's a question. =/

!That little spanish trick is totally something we, as the white people, should steal!

Technically they do - y'see, most of a forum is taken up with the problems of life (how to write code, debug code, deconstruct code and mock code) so there's usually a little section tucked away for the not-everyday life stuff = for instance, which restaurants let you in with a bottle and how to get laid. Not necessarily in that order.

But geeks don't need that stuff. Surely, they just want more geekery?

Think of it is a warning sign - "You are now entering a geek free zone".

It saves a lot of emotional distress for the geeks who cannot think there is anything but geekery.
