Right, nominate your top 5 here, in order. Any game, any format, must have been released this year.

First choices will be given 5pts, 2nd place 4 pts, 3rd place 3 pts, etc. If you can't name 5, name as many as you can.

Points will be totted up some time before xmas.

I'll kick things off:

1) HL2: The Orange box (PC)
2) STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl (PC)
3) WoW: The Burning Crusade (PC)
4) Forza Motorsport 2 (360)
5) FIFA 08 (360)

Eve: Revelations
WoW: Burning Crusade

I bet Orange Box, but I haven't played it yet.

I have hardly played any games this year but:

1. Civilization IV: Beyond The Sword - PC
2. Desktop Tower Defence MP - Flash
3. PES 2008 - PS2

I would have put Wii sports in there, but wikipedia says it was December 2006.

MDA
27-11-2007, 16:59:56
well, its for sure not Combat Mission: Shock Force :(

Burning Crusade for me, although I've heard great things about Orange Box and Portal too.

No Rock Star/Guitar Hero type games?

Funko
27-11-2007, 17:02:19
I haven't bought/played one yet this year... guitar hero 3 literally just came out. It's also made by a new company.

The only problem with CG game of the year being in december for only games released that calendar year is potentially missing late christmas releases eg Wii sports.

I'm sure the games industry are outraged. ;)

1. Malle Pietje Meppen.

For the same reasons Funko had:

1) Sam and Max Season 1 Episode 4: Abe Lincoln Must Die!
2) Sam and Max Season 2 Episode 1: Ice Station Santa
3) Sam and Max Season 1 Episode 2: Situation: Comedy
4) Sam and Max Season 1 Episode 5: Reality 2.0
5) Sam and Max Season 1 Episode 3: The Mole, The Mob and the Meatball

Hmm:

1> Bioshock
2> Call of Duty 4
3> Mass Effect
4> Mario Galaxy
5> Halo 3 (poor single player but the multiplayer aspect is fantastic)

Tau Ceti

Since I tend to wait a year or so to pick up games at reduced prices, I don't have too many new releases to vote for.

1. The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (DS)
2. Jade Empire: Special Edition (PC)

fp
27-11-2007, 20:32:20
1.Guitar Hero III
2.WoW Burning Crusade
3.Orange Box
4.Bioshock
5.Final Fantasy XII

I think Mario Galaxy is deserving of a place but as I haven't actually played it I'll not nominate it.

Greg W

Haven't played a heck of a lot this year, but here goes:

1) Civ IV: Beyond the Sword
2) Crusader Kings: Deus Vult
3) LotR Online: Shadows of Angmar
4) UFO: Afterlight
5) Commander: Europe at War (may have been higher had I not recently purchased it)

And personally, seeing as this is voted in December, we should be able to count Wii Sports (which would probably get my #2 vote in that case).

Mario Party 8 / Wii
Super Paper Mario /Wii
Guitar Hero III / Wii
Hellgate: London

Super Mario Axe?

MoSe
28-11-2007, 10:29:15
Super Mario Anal Xploit

(well, it should actually be Anal Xplore, Xpand, Xploit, X.... :nervous: )

maroule
28-11-2007, 10:47:17
1) Civ IV: Beyond the Sword
2) LotR Online: Shadows of Angmar
3) Armageddon (great little TBT strat game)
4) Halo 3

but I'm still waiting for Mass Effect (have it, no time to play it) and Final Fantasy Tactics on PSP (same)

I can't say this was a big year for great games.

Nothing really excited me, BTS was probaly the only memorable game.

Portal is very good if you like mind-bending puzzle games.

been enjoying MTW2:crusades but its only an addon.

Don;t think I've bought any new games this year - picked up a few budget ones.

Indeed. Bought only two full price games for my PC, but a lot of Wii games.

Chris
29-11-2007, 10:27:46
I also picked up a bunch of older games cheap, there wasn't a lot of good review stuff at all this year.

C.G.B. Spender
29-11-2007, 10:33:18
I played Railroads and Neverwinter Nights. I liked Hellgate London, it is so simple.

But in general it's a lot more fun to play Wii Games together wit the kids.

Chris

I picked up the best of Star wars on PC a few weeks ago, a real bargin, 5 games for only 40 bucks American.

Lego Starwars rox

Venom

Lego Star wars is indeed awesome.

And I would add my list, but it's now painfully obviously how new games I played this year.

Shining1

1. WoW: Burning Crusade
2. Halflife Orange Box (mostly for Portal)
3. Bioshock
4. What was that kicking game Drekkus made called?
5. NWN2

It includes:

Empire at War
Knights of the old republic
Battlefront
Jedi outcast
Republic Commando

It works out to 8 bucks per game, more then worth it.

Also picked up Morrowind with both expansions for 19 bucks.

For me, the only thing I have been playing this year has been Oblivion.

I am too lazy to buy anything newer

Really enjoyable, not as good as the hype but it's definitely on a par with Knights of the Old Republic.

MDA
29-11-2007, 17:42:15
Oblivion has lots of mileage in it, I still haven't finished the main quest.

I was really looking forward to Bioshock, but then I heard my video card wasn't going to play nice and backed off.

I bought that Star Wars 5-pack for ~$35 US and started with Empire at War on medium settings.

Damn, I suck at RTS. The Imperials roll me up and then snuff me out. Fun though.

Even though I already have played Kotor 10x through and done Jedi Outcast, I figure the other games are worth it.

This will be a building list as games come in over the holiday.

1. Call of Duty 4 - Great multiplayer component.

1. Oblivion: Shivering Isles (PC)
2. Resident Evil 4 (PC)

:p

And actually, it's been a hell of a good year for games looking back at things.

1. The Witcher
2. Civ4: BTS
3. STALKER

5. Portal

The advanced database and computational facilities have sorted the votes and the CG Game of the Year winner can now be announced:

*drum roll*

1) CIV4: Beyond the Sword

2) The Orange Box
3) Wow: The Burning Crusade
4) Bioshock

There was a big fall off after these four, so i'm omitting the rest of the list. There was actually only one point difference between each game and the game below it, and all of them received four or more votes.
