Many people don't type www. in front of addresses, so instead of seing Counterglow, they see this:

The fix is trivial, edit one file on the server.

You are losing a lot of potential customers this way!

Don't you want to be rich?

Given the traffic it recieves counterglow could generate some respectable money. I'm not saying it's the next myspace.com but it has potential. A google ad here and a google ad there, they add up, my grandmother used to say.

The lack of ads make thei site very uninternety. We should add ads - that's it: added ads.

You need a vertical challenge to hold your pee? That's rich.

I care a bit, it's annoying, but Nav is lazy.

We have an alternate funding model. Nav waits until we're drunk and then taps us up for contributions for the hosting.

Oh, THAT guy is Nav?

Funko

Possibly. Someone suggested he was a homeless guy who just came in the pub when he saw us idiots because he recognises a bunch of nerds when he sees them and knows he can con them out of money for 'hosting'.

seriously if I fixed it, counterglow.com would become a mirror of www.counterglow.com and that would mean doing redirects and crap to stop bots indexing them as separate sites. Lots of work, and I can't be bothered. And Google Ads? For this type of site whose audience would be younger, more tech savvy... nobody would actually click on the ads. Making it a complete waste of time.

However, Vetlegion if you make a 10 or more moustache donation (http://www.justgiving.com/willkelly) I'll fix http://counterglow.com for you.

Just don't bother fixing that stuff, let the bots work it out.

I maintain a few sites and they all work with and without the www. I never had to do anything complicated manually as the host setup already had that option (I believe it's in the .htaccess file). As for bots, sites seem to be indexed normally, redirection is not counted as separate sites (I think).

Lots of work, and I can't be bothered.

Your decision, however it seems to me that counterglow is one of the rare sites that need www. The opposite, sites that only work without the www is also rare. Most sites show same content with or without the prefix. And there seems to be a movement to drop the www, so CG is on the wrong end of the spectrum, if only one address is desired it should probably be without the www:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No-www
http://no-www.org/

And Google Ads? For this type of site whose audience would be younger, more tech savvy... nobody would actually click on the ads. Making it a complete waste of time.

You know who your visitors are best. Many people have a couple of ads to help with the cost of hosting, though hosting is cheap enough nowadays that it's not neccessary. I don't have ads on my hobby sites, but if they started to attract serious traffic and my hosting expenses rose, I'd put them up.

However, Vetlegion if you make a 10 or more moustache donation (http://www.justgiving.com/willkelly) I'll fix http://counterglow.com for you.

I can live with this, I'm only trying to help.

It's actually something wrong with the server that's causing the default domain not to resolve . Now that I've resigned from my job (again!), i might have time to get round to fixing it.
