New York Giants Vs Miami Dolphins @ Wembley on 28th Oct.

The first regular season NFL game outside of the US!

I've got my tickets and I can't wait!:bounce:

I can actually understand most of Gridiron's rules. And followed the Patriots through the 80s and 90s when they sucked! Good to see them come good.

Damn, why are all the American sports leagues suddenly trying to expand into the UK?

Because we're better sports fans.

Suddenly? We've had waves of Gridiron incursions since CH4 televised it back in the mid '80's. From about '85-'92 there was a golden era of football here in the UK with NFL exhibition games at Wembley (still remember the Fridge, Payton, McMahon etc playing vs the Cowboys here after they won the Superbowl); The WLAF league with the London Monarchs playing their home games at Wembley; well over 100 adult kitted teams across the country when I played for a few years before going to NZ...

Then politics took over and the whole thing went shit until the last few years when the game has been making a bit of a comeback here (including me playing again!), despite the demise of NFL Europe.

The problem is that the NFL's support is sporadic...

Ice Hockey has been around for ages, enjoying a similar cycle but with actual pro teams. Same with Basketball.

The only one that hasn't taken off is Baseball, but then that has to compete with our own boring bat and ball game...:D

Baseball was on late-night Channel 5 for years. Not sure if it still is but it was when I was at uni.

I was more thinking of it getting played here. I think you're right though, I have a vague recollection of seeing it on the TV.

We are too civil to riot.

No. Why would I want to watch such a tedious sport?

The best way to watch NFL is in a 2 hour "highlights" show. When they skip all the annoying crap between plays and just skip to the plays themselves.

You mean all the adverts...

The best way to watch NFL is to have Greg watching it.

It's still on. I was really into it when I was at Uni but have since stopped following it. IMHO its a far more interesting sport than cricket.
