I thought this story was pretty incredible. Since the smoking ban came in in Scotland 18 months ago there's been a 17% reduction in the heart attack rate.

yeah, ban anything remotely fun that gets your heart rate up and we'll all live like miserable zen buddhists until we're 124.

rollercoasters have health warnings on them too. ban the fuckers.

Secondary drinking (drinking other peoples drinks) in pubs is extremely hazardous to your health.

The smoking ban is brilliant, I don't stink or have crap asthma all day after going out the night before.

Yeah, twas great for the missus when she was pregnant too.

10-09-2007, 09:21:17
So she could still go down the pub and get rat-arsed without the secondary smoke?

Alcohol is bad! You should avoid it at any cost. However, beer and wine ...

Surely the Scots now have a gap of healthiness left by this ban. Perhaps they are going to have to find some other foodstuff to deep fry now ;)

And smoking is disgusting, just because everyone else has to suffer from the damn stuff.

I just think a 17% drop after just a year is a staggering difference. I didn't think it'd really make that much difference other than a small amount in the long term.

10-09-2007, 13:21:42
Except there could be other underlying reasons for the drop such as less publicised initiatives...

Deep Fried mars bar sales dropped by 17% last year?

Since the air has cleared the scent of bullshit should be easier to detect.

there was a story doing the rounds that liver disease had gone up. less money spent on fags = more money spent on booze...

never seen figures to back that up though!

I think that booze sales are down overall.
