things are good, but rest assured, I still haven't got a life, so it's all very much the same on that front. Education is still alluding me, but I'm progressing well in my job. Got myself a steady boyfriend, have life plans with him (nothing concrete though) and at some stage this year I'm hoping to learn how to drive.

How's it going with the rest of you?

Oerdin

Did you come up with these life plans on your own and does he know about them? Also how long have you two been going out?

Yes he knows about them, and in fact he shares them with me! We've been together about 9 months now, and he's met my family, and he even spent Christmas with us.

Nice to see you too :)

Well, I had a poster I was suppose to present about my research today; but it didn't look good, so I didn't come to the lab until after it was suppose to be presented.

I still have no life (haven' thad one since I moved down to the lab 1.5 years ago). It was good to have no life for a while, I am doing physics again, but I am really missing one right now.

Other than that pretty good.

I am going to get involved with mentoring young men in my church, which I think is a good thing.

We are about done with the calibration of our most important data point, so can begin analysis soon, hopefully. I am still in graduate school. I am not out on the street. I still have freinds, even if they are mostly in Maryland. I am more involved in my church. Oh, and a lot of other pretty good things.

I'm glad things are going well for you, and having a life is over rated :p

Mentoring? That's pretty cool, I've always admired people who've been able to take on a role like that, good for you JM

Some things I don't know how to deal with, obviously. Especially since my church is in a neighborhood where people won't come to the door if you knock because they think you might be the police.

How I handled bad influences like that (we didn't have real gangs in my highschool, but we did have wannabees that beat eachother up a lot, and a lot of drugs and pregnancies) was to ignore it all and spend my time doing school stuff or reading or playing video games or watching TV. I think though that I know academia pretty well, especially science, and can help there.

A lot of people just need someone to talk to, and as long as you can listen and put 'uhhuh, yeah, I know what you're saying' in the right place you shouldn't go too wrong!

Yeah, I know someone to listen is one of the most important things. That is the first job of a counselor, for example.

I believe the correct title of this thread should be "left forever".

Not a poster from here! Surely! Present them only to your worst enemies.
