Always feel the quality of the venue you see some live music adds to the experience, be it sound quality, atmosphere, view, even bar queueing times! What's your favourite?

The Scala in Kings Cross is my favourite.

It's pretty small, but not so small that it doesn't have a proper stage etc, and it's really tall, with about 3 different bars overlooking the stage on different levels. Plus it's close to a major station, drinks aren't too expensive by London venue standards, and it's a really nice sort of vaguely art deco-ish building inside.

Yeah, the Scala is good. My favourite is probably Brixton Academy, great open atmosphere. Plus it has what all great gig venues should have - a sloped, sticky floor.

The Bowery Ballroom is good, alot smaller than I thought it would be, but thats no bad thing, very intimate. Sadly, I saw Vashti Bunyan there (not my choice). I spent the whole gig thinking "I wish I were seeing a really loud, manic band in here".

I have to say the Rising Sun Arts Centre in Reading as well because I love that place, and I've seen some great gigs there.

I quite like the Camden Underworld, at least for metal gigs. It's small, dark and dank enough to give the right atmosphere while still being just large enough for reasonably well known bands to play there without selling out in seconds.

The dancefloor was littered with coins, bits of paper and keys.

Ah, the memories.
