Parts of it are funny.. others remind me of somethingawful... which I decided was really just too awful for me to keep visiting.

I probably won't visit this again, but did spend several hours reading it earlier today.

So, basically, you say that if a completely sober, non-drugged, sane girl drags you into a room, takes of your pants, sucks you off for a bit, then undresses herself, jumps on a nearby bed, spreads her legs and exclaims "fuck me hard!", and, in that situation, if you don't ask:
"Er, so do you want to have sex?"

then you are a rapist?

Erm.. I think somebody saying "fuck me hard" is pretty clear evidence of consent to sex. You're twisting the situation. Also note the word "could" in point 12.

I agree with most of that list. Points 12-16 are interesting. I wonder how the blogger would feel if the gender situations are reversed (ie. a woman saying "if you really love me then you'll x"). The cynic in me says that the they wouldn't consider the woman a rapist, and in fact that they'd consider it impossible for a woman to rape a man. It's not fair to project those views onto this blogger, but both are opinions I've heard before and they make me mad. I think that 12-16 are broadly correct (from my own moral point of view, not necessarily a legal one), but that it works both ways.

Point 21 is the only one I think is utter bullshit. A guy who ejaculates inside a woman even though he knows the condom has split is a total dipshit fucktard, but I can't see how he could be called a rapist.

44 is too strong. It's highly immoral to not come to the aid of someone who's being raped, but it doesn't actually make you a rapist. It does make you a heartless coward.

fp: I agree that the world "could" changes the semantics of point 12 significantly. However, I'd like to point out two facts, which lead to one consequence. Fact one is that, due to the structure of the list, it is extremely easy to omit that "could". I did that, for example.

Fact two is that point 12 doesn't really bring any concrete information. If you've seen a drawing of a marijuana leaf, you could be a drug addict.

That means "could" is a sort of a weasel-word here. It is clear the author wanted to skip it, but then decided against this. The message is clear - either you ask a girl every time explicitly, even at the risk of ruining the mood, or you are a suspect. Quite a nice way for a certain type of girls to evade responsibility. In the Middle Ages, it was witchcraft. Nowadays, it is rape.

Besides, read point 12 carefully - it does state that if you say nothing, and the girl only says "Fuck me!", you could be a rapist :).

13. You are a rapist if you 'nag' her for sex. Because you manage to ply an eventual 'yes' from a weary victim doesn't mean it's not rape. You are a rapist.

14. You are a rapist if you try to circumvent her "No" by talking her into it. She's not playing hard to get, and, even if she IS it's not YOUR responsibility to 'get' her. You're still a rapist.

Pathetic.

Actually you would be a creepy peeping tom.

one thing is sure, from the list, I've raped quite a few girls... and I've been raped at least twice (my erection was not a sign I consented)

Most of these points are fair enough. It's more the way every line ends with 'you are a rapist'. Repitition is an important tool in any kind of psychological assault.

Point 12 is a bit dumb though. You *could* also be a rabbit, or a dragon, or a :gasmaske:.

It's close. Let's do a quick count. The ones I have problems with are:

1. You are a rapist if you get a girl drunk and have sex with her.

2. You are a rapist if you find a drunk girl and have sex with her.

3. You are a rapist if you get yourself drunk and have sex with her. Your drunkeness is no excuse.

4. If you are BOTH drunk you may still be a rapist.

Depends how drunk.

12. If you don't bother to ask her permission and she says neither 'Yes' or 'No' then you could be a rapist.

15. You are a rapist if you manipulate her into sex when she doesn't otherwise want it. If you say, "If you loved me you’d do X" then you're a rapist. If you say, "All the other kids are doing it!" then you're a rapist.

17. You are a rapist if you don't immediately get your hands off of her when she says 'no'. You are a rapist if you take your hands off of her and then put them back ON her after 10 minutes and she eventually 'gives in' to this tactic.

You're guilty of some form of assault, but not rape. The offence is not the intercourse, but the unwanted touching which prededes it.

18. You are a rapist if you won't let her sleep peacefully without waking her every 15 minutes asking her for sex. Sleep depravation is a form of torture and YOU are a rapist.

23. If she changes her mind at ANY point for ANY reason and you don't immediately back off or you try to talk her into it and get sex anyway then you're a rapist.

 at bolded part

27. If you had sex with her the night before but she doesn't want morning sex and you pressure her for it anyway then you're a rapist.

29. If it's your wedding night and she doesn't WANT to have sex with you and you force or coerce her anyway then you're a rapist.

46. If you don't believe a woman when she says she was raped then you're encouraging rape.

I can tell you right now that I wouldn't believe this woman if she told me she was raped

50. You cannot tell who is a rapist by the way they look. Rapists are your friends, your brothers, your fathers and you won't know it.

Fathers?

So that's 14 idiotic statements out of 50 (not including the last one).

Yeah, I suppose most of them are fair enough. But when you add idiotic statements to reasonable ones you tend to detract from the value of the reasonable ones, not vice versa. She'd do a lot better to restrict herself to the realm of sanity.

paiktis
21-01-2007, 12:26:39
Some of the statements are absolutely ridiculous and it's like they're written from someone who always gets the cold shoulder from women and hates men who manage to get the squeeking mattress. Or some deranged feminist lesbian who's real problems are other.

Other statements are absolutely true and I'd classify them under common logic.

Personally I think you're a "loser" if you have to ask/push for sex and not it coming naturally.

Breaking down the defences of a girl though, it's something that a girl wants. If a girl does not want that, then you figure it out and back off. Heaven forbit if things were as cut and dry as that. Whoever wrote that, although some points are completely true and I'd think they would be common logic, is confused about the terms flirting and decency. They can both go hand in hand but I don't think he/she knows that.

Exactly, it should be written like this:

12. If you don't bother to ask her permission and she says neither 'Yes' or 'No' then you might just be a rapist.
