Soon a French soccer National won't either!

http://www.rivieraradio.mc/news.asp?idactu=

French footballer Franck Ribery is in trouble after being caught driving without a licence. The trouble for the player, who starred for France in the World Cup, began in an area of Marseille when he was recognised by fans. Police who intervened discovered the footballer had never passed his driving test.

apparently, he asked for the cops to help him past the fans crowd

found nothing on BBC yet, according to Gazzetta sanction "up to" 1 year jail + 15k€

cool, a N° Car thread...
;)
Let's see...

1. Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 light brown, dad's
2. Alfa Romeo Giulia 1600 GT bottleglass green, dad's
3. Fiat 126 red, shared use with mum
4. Citroen Dyane, light brown with black stripe on the hood and soft red removable top. Owned, gifted by a former date who hadn't the heart to scrap it. Came with a name too, Veronique.... :nervous:
5. Fiat 127 "Sport" silver, earlier mum's, became formally owner after giving away the falling apart Dyane.
6. Fiat 131 Mirafiori gray, named "Miranda". Got it for almost nothing from a neighbor. Rusty.
7. Fiat Tipo (1100) silver, mum's. Often used it instead of my Miranda, when better reliability/decency was needed.
8. Citroen Visa 900 (almost identical to the AX model, slightly smoother edges), metal brown with golden hues :), hence named "Dorinda" (also from Spielberg's Always). Used. Cozy.

9. Renault Megane 1400 red. Bought new in Sep.1997, current. Named "Peggy Sue", I still love it :cute:
I can't think to get another one after it.

9b. one summer that mum took it to central italy in place of her broken Tipo, I rented a Lancia Y for 3 months.

5 owned, 4 family's and driven regularly for significant periods, 1 long-ish term rent.

I'm not counting a few gf's ones they ocasionally trusted me (IIRC a burgundy Panda, a Fiat 850 (!), an orange Renault R4, ...), those I rented for just 2 weeks or less (an Opel Vectra, a Smart for-4, a Punto, an Alfa 156, a new Megane SW...), and the friend's ones I drove in turns for long stints on holiday trips (yellow Austin Metro TO and thru Ireland, Audi 80 to Munich Oktoberfest).
Oh, and I try to forget the uncle's Hyundai Accent I had to drive alone one dreadful morning thru Naples' traffic!

1. (UK) 1981 Ford Fiesta 850 ‘Terracotta’ AKA dodgy orange. Bought from a work colleague I fancied (bad way to do business!) for £800 straight after I passed my test.
2. (NZ) 1964 Morris Oxford 2.0, Sky Blue. NZ$400 (approx £130). Leaky brake fluid. Got stolen!
3. (NZ) 1976 Triumph 2.5TC V6 Auto, Red. NZ$400: Awesome car, leather interior and all mod cons (for a car that old!). Engine was fucked, but managed to eke out 18 months use by using heavy grade oil – only had a range of 50 miles before the engine would overheat! Leaky powersteering. Once tried to hill start it when a short circuit flattened my battery - Note to self: Hill starting an automatic with power steering and brakes on a windy road is suicidal!
4. (NZ) 1973 Holden Torana S 2.85 V6. Gunmetal Grey, Rust, Gold drivers’ door. NZ$900. This car looked like a gang member’s car and was so dented and bashed up that I even managed to drive it for at least a week without noticing the front number plate had fallen off! Reluctantly had to sell when I left NZ.
5. (UK) 1983 VW Polo 1.0 Burgundy/Rust. £100 including £25 for the radio! This car looked like total shit but had incredibly low mileage and was totally reliable! Stolen!
6. (UK) 1987 VW Polo 1.3 Light Metallic Blue. £550 Brilliant little workhorse that I sadly ran into the ground by not taking proper care of it – snapping the accelerator cable(!), which is difficult to do resulted in overstraining the engine and basically knackering it. Scrapped!
7. (UK) 1997 Fiat Brava 1.6 Metallic Greeny/Grey £1875. My lovely current car, however after almost 3 years I think it is time to get something different...

Oops – one less car than I thought…:cute:

1. 1974 VW Beatle - A hand me down car whichmy father originally gave to my older sister but she forgot to put oil in it and blew the engine. My dad and I put in a new 1976 VW Super Beatle engine which was 1800cc instead of the old 1600cc plus it had fuel injection while the old one used a carburator.

2) 1973 Chevrolet Monza - This was never actually my car and instead was my sister's car which she let me borrow on a daily basis since she bought a newer one. This car was a wreck. The driver's side door was a different color this yellow-tan color while the rest of the car was baby poop brown. The driver's side door you couldn't lock while the passenger's side door wouldn't unlock. The engine mounts were bad so the whole car shook violently while it was running but my VW had died on me (over revved the engine and throw a rod) so I had no choice but to drive this beast for a few months.

3) 1977 VW Rabbit - It was a desiel and had a 1500 cc engine which made around 55hp. I true slug. Was fairly reliable except it had a top speed of around 60 mph which meant every where I went I had to floor the thing and flog that gutless engine for every ounce of power I could get. This resulted in the engine over heating on two occassions which warped the engine block head. I spent around $400 fixing it the first time then sold it for scrap after the repeat performance.

4) 1995 Ford Probe - A good 2 door car which I liked a lot. This was the first car I bought instead of being given. It was a 2.0L 4-cyl engine when I should have gotten the 2.5L V-6 but the car was rock solid and I owned it for a total of 11.5 years. A lot of good memories about this car and it was dead reliable; so much so that I drove it across the North American continent on four occassions without a whiff of trouble. Eventually it got old and after it got stolen it was never the same. Eventually I just gave it away to my local NPR station.

5) 1991 Toyota Camry - This was a hand me down. It was originally my grandparents car and when my grandmother died they gave it to me which was rather thoughtful. Granddad bought it fully loaded so even though it is old it is very nice plus the old man kept excellent care of the car plus it only had 89k miles on it when I got it two years ago. It's getting old and I'd like to buy a new car but it is so nice to not have payments.

Wow, I think my brother has had more cars than all of you. And my other siblings have had more cars than most of you.

(I think my older brother had had 4+ cars by the end of highschool, and has a 'new' car at least every year)
