Hoped to go to see a lot more live music this year but never did. Didn't buy many good new albums or 'discover' many new/hidden bands and haven't been that impressed with the majority of bands making the headlines in the UK this year (probably a sign of getting old!) In no particular order here's tunes i liked most this year....

Kasabian - Empire
Raconteurs - Steady As She Goes
The Kooks - Naive
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Gold Lion
Morrissey - You Have Killed Me
Agalloch - Not Unlike The Waves
Gnarls Barkley - Crazy
Fall Out Boy - Sugar Were Goin Down
RHCP - Tell Me Baby
Rhianna - S.O.S
Shakira - Hips Don't Lie

...the last two probably because it was difficult to take my eyes of the videos on MTV!

Worst music: Anything by My Chemical Romance or Trivium!

What's other peoples?:)

The Atlanta Snap scene has produced some marvellous stuff courtesy of D4L, Dem Franchise Boyz, Unk and a few others. Haven't minded the Bay Area Hyphy scene either.

Timbaland had a major resurgence as a wonky, freestyle-influenced pop producer and I truly enjoyed both Nelly Futardo's and Justin Timberlake's albums.

The Knife's "Silent Shout" was much better than their earlier material and a worthy "album of the year" on many critics' lists. Still, the novelty has been hampered a bit because I've been listening so much to their early-eighties predecessors like Videoliszt.

One album I can actually see people here really enjoying is Tech N9ne's "Everready (The Religion)" which combines the best bits of underground and mainstream hip-hop. Apparently there's something interesting brewing in Kansas City...
