View Full Version : Is Morrisey any good live?

I don't want to build my hopes up and then be let down like with The Cure. He's coming here Nov 25 and 6 days later the Kaiser Chiefs.

No. At least, I didn't like him (I do like The Smiths, but Morrisey alone.... No...)

I've not seen a whole show, but from little bits a saw a Reading a few years ago, and stuff on TV etc he's very good. He has a good band, puts on a good show, plays a lot of the songs you want to hear (as opposed to just plugging his newest album relentlessly), and by all accounts is playing more Smiths songs than he has in years. He even plays How Soon is Now these days.

Kaiser Chiefs on the other hand, are shit.

If Kaiser Chiefs are a let down, then I predict a riot after the show.

He was certainly very good when I saw him at Reading a couple of years ago.

Seen him live twice before, and he seemed pretty good. With such a big catalogue of solo songs to choose from, plus a few old Smiths ones, his set list changes quite a lot. You can check up on his website www.morrissey-solo.com fro more. There's not many artists or personalities around like him, so it will be a unique experience anyhow. His backing band are pretty good too, although not as good as Marr & co.

The soundtrack of our frustrated late adolescence. I will go and see.
Although I see these songs drifting further and further away in lieu for some serious greek dog songs. They go splendingly with retsina, cigs and life on the ground. But one last homage to our late spiritual frustrating hiding homeland is a gesture of belated grace.
