Yes, they rule.

If I had a theremin I'd play it all the time. I'd bring it with me everywhere and all the poeple would be happy listening to me playing my theremin.

Another weird early Russian electronic instrument was the ANS, which used etchings on rotating glass discs to produce an unearthly "spacey" sound. Coil did an album of ANS music a few years ago.
