Out today, seems good so far. Even faster?

Funko

Alt+S no longer submits, instead it brings up the history menu. Rubbish!

Ah. Think I'll stick with the old version in that case.

Submits what?

Funko
25-10-2006, 10:43:35
Submits forms.

King_Ghidra
25-10-2006, 10:54:29
You submit a lot of forms?

Funko
25-10-2006, 10:57:30
Er... well every post on CG and every other forum, so yes, loads.

King_Ghidra

Oh, you don't have a mouse?

Funko
25-10-2006, 11:03:32
Alt+S is a lot faster than using a mouse to submit. Especially useful in Hardcore challenges where you can use backspace and Alt+S and never move your hands from the keyboard.

Funko

I'm using tab then space from the quick reply window now.

But you have flood control anyway...how long does it take you to type?!

Are you using keyboard shortcuts to navigate between pages too?

Funko
25-10-2006, 11:41:27
Everyone hits flood control, but you need to get your posts in as soon after flood control ends as possible, cue continuous backspace and reposting. You don't need to do any navigation in a hardcore contest, just submit, type, keep submitting/backspacing until flood control ends, then type next message.

Whilst the form is submitting you can move your hand to your mouse to get ready to do something else. It's just generally annoying if you always do something a certain way and they take the functionality away.

Though I'm posting this from Opera, I tried Firefox 2.0 last night. It seems to be stable enough, but I've only done a brief check of all my plugins. Session restore works, which is definitely nice. I'm not running any extensions.

Type "about:config" in the address bar.

In the Filter bar type "ui.key.contentAccess" and press enter.

Double click the item and change the value from 5 to 4.

Let's see if this works...

It's actually "about:config"

Upgraded yesterday. Took me another hour to recustomise my extensions (or "Add-ons", now). Should probably re-ID them all I suppose.

After a couple of hours use (according to the "time waster" clock extension) I'm liking it.
It's definitely faster, and the spell checker is useful for someone who types as badly as I do.
I'm still getting used to the tab close buttons on each tab instead of one button at the end.

Opera introduced that right? Now even explorer have them. I always end up getting the "do you really want to close *all* your tabs?" message because I forget to click on them.

Sometimes I answer 'yes' just not to look as a complete moron.

I always used a middle-click to close tabs anyway. The new buttons just annoy me.

I might have to uninstall the timer thingy, I'm beginning to realise just how much time I spend on the interweb....

Just installed FF last week for the first time evah.

Pretty nice. Lags just a second or so longer than IE when I open it, but I like the tabs.

2 turns the close off entirely, and setting it to 3 changes it back to how it used to be in Firefox 1 with the close button far right not by each tab.
