A Representative from the "moral majority", campaigning against sexual abuse and giving ethics lessons on everything (especially how evil gay marriage is), is found to be a marauding pedophile, and admits his "gay urges". His direct boss, the House Speaker, knew for years and kept mum. Everybody seemed to have known he was "way too friendly with the pages". The guy is even confident/careless enough to leave written evidences (mind you, if not for that, the whole story would have never blown out, they would have denied it to death) ...

... and all that just a few weeks before elections, where his party already has its main claim (war in Iraq is making the US safer) bludgeoned by anti-american organisations like the CIA, FBI, etc.

Pinch me I dream. If a novelist was coming up with something that outrageous, he'd be ridiculed for being so heavy handed.

I'm intrigued as to why Bush has been so vocal in his support for the speaker, that sounds rather ill-advised

probably the same reason he's been vocal with Rumsfeld, loyalty is more important than incompetence

There's another bit you didn't mention.

Foley chaired the House caucus on missing and exploited children and was credited with writing the sexual-predator provisions of the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act of 2006

He's also described in every report as "single".

I'm sure the timing is a complete coincidence and wasn't released just befor an election for maximum impact. :hmm:

No, I mean I reckon they've been saving the news up.

Hey, if you belong to the good-by-definition Repubs, it's all fine and well. It's only mass murder, torture, terrorism, rape and sexual molestation if the bad-by-definition guys do it.

Might just be my natural cynicism but I think any party would try to cover it up.

it doesn't make it any less damning, especially when you keep defining yourself on these moral issues (like gay marriage is evil), while covering up the truth all along

So... politicians are lying, manipulative, corrupt hypocrites? Thanks for the newsflash.

It's not news as such, it's just a brilliant example for it. Especially as even the retarded rednecks might have a chance to get it - "gay child molester" is so much easier to comprehend than mass murder under the veil of "democracy", for example.

Yeah, sure, whatever.

Also, he's not being accused of actually molesting the boys. Nobody apart from you is saying he ever touched them.
