Anyone into Japanese music in a heavy way? I've always held a dislike to J-Pop (it's too britney-meets-jazz for me, no beats) but recently I've gotten into the 70s/80s type japanese music by bands like Logic System and The Plastics. Any more music from the country I should be aware of?

You've absolutely got to try The Boredoms, if you haven't already. They're mental.

Melt-Banana are good too.

I used to rather like eX-Girl, and what little I've heard by Boris has been good. The Green Machine were also decent, but are basically just stoner rock without anything much setting them apart stylistically from its American practitioners as far as I can recall. I'll second Laz's recommendations too, although I tend to prefer older Boredoms material over what little I've heard of their 90s/00s music.

Blue Hearts are pretty OK in a pop-punk sort of way
