Carp... The only fish which doesn't just survive in a sewer and infact thrives in sewers. The more raw human waste tossed in the happier the carp becomes.

Maligned by serious sports fishermen for decades as a trash fish, the common carp, or "sewer trout" if you will, may some day rival largemouth bass as the most popular sport fish in Texas

Even the "sewer trout" might have its day.

When i worked for the civil service i had a colleague who was a carp fisherman. There were a few of these fish in this lake and they were dozens of years old and very big. They all had names and some of the fishermen had spent years trying to catch particular ones. Depending on weight fluctuations, some of the big ones could break the British record if caught. The actual catch rate was pretty low, it might be days, weeks or months between catches.

The picture he painted was of a lot more weed smoking than fish-catching.
